Is the 2000 Nissan Xterra transmission (fs5r30a) the same as the 5 speed manual that they put in the Nissan 300zx z32?
Yes. That should work just fine.I see, well the reason I ask is because I’ve had a friend bring up doing an LS swap on it. My Xterra does have the V6 and I found an LS adapter kit for a 5 speed manual out of a z32. I was wondering if I could use this kit with the stock Xterra manual transmission and transfer case. Seems like a long shot but I wanted to ask. And also do you think the stock components could handle more power if it does work?

Yeah. The transmission can take the heat. I'd recommend a new chain in the transfer case just to be on the safe side.Sweet glad to hear that the stock transmission and transfer case can handle the increase in power. Now I have to decide which LS to put in it
Are you doing an LS Swap?I never thought of going that route with mine. That adapter might have just save me a few headaches.
Interesting. Any idea if the gear ratios are documented somehwere? Does that mean if one wanted to remove the transfer case and use the tail housing from the 2WD (for a 2WD application), that 5 gears could not be achieved? Or, does the tail housing on the 2WD version also house the 5th gear?Yes. But no.
Only in the v6. The transmission has the same part number but the gear ratios are different. And on the 4wd models have a different tail section that houses 5th gear and bolts to the transfer case.
