Any of you guys smoke cigars on a regualr basis? My question is really, is there any type of good cell phone app to keep track of what ya smoke? I have my favorites but even now and then I smoke something different then forget about what I had. LoL

Just curious....

I don't puff often enough to bother starting a log of what I've smoked, and I usually only smoke the same cigars; I haven't been doing it for long enough to really know what I'll like so I haven't tried others yet.

Just an idea though, you could just save the bands? It's what I do with new beers. I glue them onto round magnets and keep them on the fridge. I've got easily 100 different caps. Surely there's a way you could display them? Maybe on a nice table top, under a piece of glass?

But that's not an app, and definitely not portable. I dunno. I guess I'm just rambling at this point, haha. Carry on.

^^ That's a cool idea. I've also heard that the Cigar Boss app is pretty cool. I think they have a free version, I haven't tried it yet.

Sounds like you found at least one favorite (since you smoke the same stuff)... what is it?

I tried Cigar Boss and I didn't care for it. Maybe I'll have to give it another run. It was a while ago. I was saving the bands as well. A good friend of mine has a local cigar shop so he often gives me some freebies and thats where I lose track of them. LoL

As for beers/apps. There are alot of great ones out there for that. Untappd is a good one. Its more of a social networking app cause you can have friends on it and you check into locations and such with what beers you drink. But it does a nice job of keep track of what you drink though. Beers are the one thing that I do keep up on. I'm a craft brew nut!

I was given a Rolando Reyes Pirate's Gold at the 2010 B2SR (NEXterra group run) and liked it so much that I bought a brick of them.

Ah!
I smoke a few times a week. Since I’m in the city where smoking is frowned upon I am forced to short smokes most of the time. Dannemann Special Brasil is a cigarette sized cigar that you can smoke outside the bar between drinks or on a slow walk to your truck after a meal.

Over the years I’ve found that I prefer Dominican cigars with a “Natural†Sumatra wrapper when I have time for a full size cigar. I even prefer them over Cubans which I find too strong. I used to smoke around six large cigars a week but now that I’ve cut back to one maybe two a week I’ve become less adventurous.
I seldom will try anything new in fear that I might be wasting one of my now few “real cigar†smoking opportunities. My “go to†cigar right now is the Bauza Pyramid. It is a fat, obnoxious looking cigar that will clear the street when you light it up. It has always drawn well with a thick, heavy but clean, mild smoke that fills and satisfies. It is not burning or harsh unless you puff on it too much, smoke too fast or smoke it when it’s windy…I have yet to be disappointed smoking one.

for starters any thing from the one i got witch i posted earlier in this thread and forgot i did lol, or something the size of a fishing tackle box. you might hear different opinions of wood use but in the end its how often you fill the element to keep the 70 to 75% humidity with in the box. also used distiled water or you can get mold growing and thats no good.
also remember that price does not mean its the best or the worst cigar on the market, its all on personal taste. i was at a sampler night at my local lounge and had a $25 special rocky patel stick for free and it was gobble awful, then i got the five dollar RP edge and it was amazing!.

Thank you kind sir. Where can I buy a humidor? The local specs has a good selection of cigars I may have to go take a gander

Savoy makes a really nice line of reasonably priced cedar lined humidors, I have a few and I'm happy with all of them. Buy the biggest one that you feel you can afford; if you really want to build a collection, you will quickly fill a few of the XL sized ones.

My Uzi Weighs A Ton is a great stick; all of the Drew Estates (non-flavored) cigars are. As mentioned above, the Rocky Patel Edge series is another winner. I'd also suggest trying the Perdomo Champagne (Churchill size). Most of the Tatuaje stuff is also very good.

I didn't smoke cigars when I lived in SA, but I'll bet that they have more than a few good shops there. You may want to start browsing your local humidors and talk to the staff to get a feel for things.

^^I really like the Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne in the Churchill size. To me it's the perfect shop cigar; it's relatively inexpensive at ~4$ a stick, the flavors are mellow and smooth, and they burn slowly and evenly even if you leave it sitting in the ashtray for a few minutes while you're working on something.

A coworker shared a sampling with me today, I haven't had a chance to look through and see what they are but he gave me 3 new-to-me sticks that I'm excited to try.

He seemed pretty excited to have found somebody here who enjoys cigars, as we talked about them for over an hour yesterday. I'll update here later today or tonight after I have a chance to see what I've got here.

I enjoy a good cigar from time to time. Have yet to find something that really stands out as a favorite though. I was a clove cigarette smoker for years and years. So that has acclimated my taste a little. I still pick up the current Djarum clove cigars from time to time. It's still a cigarette, but the law that went into effect in 09 made clove cigarettes illegal. So Djarum put them in a natural wrapper and drop the count from 20 to 12 and said "up yours! It's a cigar now!"

I'm particularly excited to try the short skinny one (Cifuentes Y Cia Partagas) because I've been wanting to find something that size that I can enjoy a little more quickly than the bigger sticks I usually smoke.

The torpedo smells amazing, so I'm very excited to try that one as well. (A-Fuente Gran Reserva).

Ok, cigar question from an old n00b.

I love a good cigar. That said, I absolutely HATE waking up in the morning and tasting that same cigar the next day. This leads me to my conundrum. Is there a light cigar that I should try that doesn't leave a disgusting taste in your mouth for at least 12 hours after you have smoked?

Just for reference, I- like most people hopefully, floss, brush my teeth, and use Listerine each night before bed and then do the same in the morning.

Never fails. I try a cigar and like it, taste it the next day and then don't smoke again for months.

I'm curious to hear what everyone else has to say about this.

I, however, enjoy the next day flavor. I don't know why exactly, but I find it very enjoyable. I think the only time I didn't t like it was once when I was very hungover at the same time, it made the hangover recovery very difficult.

My wife and I smoke a lot of cigars...like 2-3 per week usually. one called "cigar boss" and another called "my cigar humidor" and there are probably others but what we do is keep bands and write if we like them or even keep a little book or note in your phone. takes as much effort doing that and opening an app. There apparently is another "silo cigars" (sorry editing this as i type it..lol).

I typically smoke 1-2 cigars on the weekend. Most friday nights I spend at my local B&M and enjoy a cigar or two. I do not believe there are any apps to record what you smoke but I cant see why it wouldnt be hard to do an easy list with a picture of the band which would take place of the notebook.

My go-to smokes are Roma Craft Aquitane, Illusione 888 and Tatuaje Havana VI. I like to try new stuff when I can but I always have a box of each of these on hand.

Whenever I'm visiting a new city I try to hunt down the best cigar shops while I'm there. I think I've visited about 20 or thirty shops over the years. The most impressive I've found so far is Outlaw Cigar in Kansas City. They purchased an abandoned Olive Garden restaurant and converted it to a huge cigar lounge. Second best is Monte's Cigar in Albuquerque NM; they have the most elaborate walk in humidor that I've ever seen. Third favorite is Heroes and Legacies in Austin TX; really nice shop with a solid humidor and great smoking areas.

Anyone else have favorites that you've come across?
