River fishing

So I decided I'd gift myself a dedicated truck stick for my birthday. Here lately, I've been getting off work with enough time to stop and fish on my way home.

Got the 6' Medium action.

I can't wait for it to get here!!! Now I have to rig up a rod holder somewhere in the back, and put my point & shoot camera back in the truck.

This way, I don't have to use one of my "better" rods, and if I break it, so what. It's not one of my $100+ rigs, and VERY replaceable.

I've also started plotting out deep pockets/access points on Google Earth for my adventures. Not quite sure how to share them, or publish them, but at least I have the information. These aren't mountain streams, these are creeks/small rivers that feed into J Percy Priest Reservoir.

What are you fishing for? I can recommend a few lures for you. My roommate and I have fished a lot, he is still a bigger fisherman than I. This is what he caught I think last year in the cold.

I'll try to dig up more fish photos

Bahaha..Tim...you're a funny guy. Seriously though, I grew up fishing bass tournaments and such, so I've got a hell of a bass setup, and I'll be damned if I break one of my good rods in the truck.

Tucker, we don't have trout in these rivers around here. There is only one that I know of that stays cold enough for trout that isn't in the mountains, and I don't plan on fishing it. It'll all be bass or bluegill, etc.

Get a flat back canoe so you can add a motor.

I've thought about that but the rivers I want to take it on are small and shallow around here except for the Tennessee..which would be nice to have a motor for that one lol

You could always get a trolling motor to save some paddling then pull it up and paddle the rest of the way.

Yeah that's true. I wouldn't mind having a flat bottom aluminum but those things are way too expensive lol

Went today om my way home from work with my new rod/reel. I caught 7-8, my new boss caught 2. Couple of red ear, 2 rock bass, and a buuunch of bluegill. The camera on my phone is messed up, but he got a pic of the huge bluegill I caught. I thought it was a bass at first!

Anyway, as soon as he sends that pic to my phone, I'll be happy to upload it.

Awesome! Fishing is always a blast, no matter how many you catch.

ah..gotcha. trout opened last saturday down here. upstate is next weekend. I don't particularly care for stocked trout fishing, but it means bass season is here soon. I'm super excited to get away for the weekend though.

The inflatables are nice for small water, as you can use a trolling motor or paddle, etc....and, you can portage them easily if you want to cross rougher terrain, etc.

You guys are all posting pics of bait though...where's the FISH!?!?!
