to go bigger than 33's on a 2nd gen, you have to do one or more of the following.
Body Lift
Drop Bracket
Fender Cutting
the reason you have to choose from one of the above three isn't that you need more height to run the taller tires, you have to get the body up to clear the added height for the tires. 33's stuff fine, 35's you need about an extra inch of up-travel to keep from making a lot of contact, if ya switch to a 2" body lift or trim fenders, or, you can do a 2" drop bracket which will be 2" of up travel gained, while increasing ride height by 2", however, you'll have to worry about catching that bracket and your diff on the rocks because now it hangs 2" lower than it did previously (and is a spot to get hung up on now, instead of being flush like not having it)
also, to get your 17" tires cheaper, look at the 33x12.50R17, 35x12.50R17 and other non-metric sized tires, they'll run cheaper....a little...
