2 QUICK QUESTIONS (bedliner on wheels and which tire to go with)

So after my tire shop did damage to my gear alloys, Ive decided to go back to my factory 16s and bedline them. MAinly so i can run 285s without having to cut metal. So for those of you who have used rusto- bedliner on your wheels are there any downsides to it? Like how does it hold up or any balance issues to deal with it. Ive looked through build threads and like the way it looks.

Secondly Its time for tires... My cooper discover stts are done for. So im runnin bfg long trails (265/70/16s) until i decide on which tire to go with. I know for sure I wanna bump up from the 265/75/16s that were on it to a 285/75/16. I already done trimming to fit the 265/75/16s on a wheel with 4.5 inch backspace. So im think im good to run that size on factory wheels.

The question is though bfg all-terrains or goodyear wrangler dura-tracts?????

thanks for any input

Ive used the Rusto... its ok... But what I really like is the Duplacolor bed liner... Blue can.. about 9 dollars at advance auto..

The finish is pretty nice.. Prep is key... scuff the rims and clean, clean, clean them.. Acitone after ...the i would prime with self etching
and do a few light coats.. then one med coat...

Im using it on the body of the X now ;)

I think im good with a 2 inch body lift + 1/2 a pml + all the trimmin done to fit the previous wheel and tire combo, right???

What do yall thinkin about having a shop do legit line-x or should i just do rattle can on them??? I know it would be easier to touch up with a rattlecan, is there gonna be any other issues with bed-liner on the wheels???

Real LineX is pretty big money.. IF you go it ;) I think real line X may mess with balancing too... But thats just me...
The rattle can stuff is pretty thin vs...

If I had 3k My X would be LineX'ed

alright just a quick update, wheels so be back in my hands and ready for paint 2morrow or tuesday....

time to decide on tires

from tirerack.com

BFG all-terrains (285/75/16)- $836.00
Dura-tracts (287/75/16)- $944.00
General grabbers ats (285/75/16)- $740.00

really leanin bfgs, I had a set of them on a tacoma i had and loved them, but what do yall think about these, havent troble decidin for sure. Can't really justify another set of mud-terrains as much highway driving as my rig sees with just the occasionaly off-road venture.

I like my Duratracs a lot.. Ive owned or used all three of those tires..
Im not a fan of the AT2s

The only issue I have found with my Duratracs are the side walls puncture easy.. but then again Im pretty hard on them...
For 50/50 use they are great.. Really have been the best over all tire Ive ever used..

KO's are nice..and you really can not go wrong with a BFG.. They eat ice up.. but seem to be weak in mud..

Truck one Gen 2 BFG KM2s
Truck two Duratracs
Truck three BFG KO's

I was at this trip and let me tell you.. this is what sold me on the duratracs..

When I buy new tires I will be going back to KM2s.. but by them my Xterra will be a trail rig and not my DD

I personally like duratracs more than the KO's. The bfg's weren't that great in the mud & overall the duratracs just seem better to me.

I have a set of KO's on my rig, they are almost bald however but they still seem to function ok for the time being. I goto Hardrock 4x4 park here and they do alright in the clay and sand. Good tire for the price and BFG has a good rep. I will however be going to General Grabbers with the red lettering for my next tire though.

So for those of you that have the duratracts, do they wear good on the road? My rig sees lots of highway time going back and forth to school and to see the gf. Plus the road i drive to get home is really curvy and and gets drove at about 55 or 60 which eats up tires.

still havin trouble decidin on which tires to get lol :D

ill agree with the rest. ko's not best in mud. but i found cheapest tires at tirecrawler.com and america's tire shop here matched the price for my STT's shipping was super cheap too.

growlers are some sweet looking tires, i think the duratracs are the best bang for your buck though, last a long time, good in all types of terrain and easy on the wallet, I swapped mine for some toyo m/t's and i really like these as well but my truck is also just a toy,

Alright been busy with school and work so this project got put on hold.... Have 3 wheels painted and ready, and i ordered my tires today 265/75/16s cooper discover st maxx. Talked myself out of the 285s until i can finish getting my steering beefed up

Shouldnt be so worried over the steering.. It can start to fail with smaller tires too.. When you start adding heavy rims and tires size doesnt matter.. Its the weight..

Can not wait to see some pix
