Go Aaron! Have fun with college. Do all of the normal college things. Concerts, road trips, all nighters, pizza for every other meal, all weekend video game binges with your friends, and most importantly.......wear a rain jacket if your gonna get involved with a chick. I'm not trying to be funny, I watched more friends lose out on their youth from that and that's the advice my dad gave me when I started college.

x2 Also beware the credit card hawks. I left there with 12k in debt and it took 11 years to pay that crap off with massive help from my parents.

Have fun, and keep an eye out for the fun classes. I managed to take an English Lit course where the Matrix and Blade Runner were required viewing.

Not 100% sure yet. The classes I'm taking are all gen ed so I don't have to have a major but I would like the peace of mind.
Im looking at criminal justice, sports marketing & advertising, or physical therapy with a minor in business. Lately I've been leaning towards criminal justice but WKU doesn't offer in directly so most likely I would get a degree in sociology & criminal sciences with a minor in biology or something. Im hoping to job shadow this summer to help me narrow this down!

Congratulations dude! Enjoy this time, not to sound like a Debby Downer but it won't last ;)

185? Damn. My graduating class was 32 strong.

Haha, back in 05 mine was 300! And im in the NE.

Congrats aaron, dont decide on a major just yet, get a little of each under your first year or so, then pick one you love. Best decision i did.

Ha, I graduated with 400. :p

This is very good advice. Take a variety of classes to see what you truly enjoy and want to learn more about. Most 100-level courses are designed to especially challenge you to make sure that is the subject you truly want to study.

Also, do not get in the habit of skipping class all the time *cough hangovers cough*. It pisses profs off, esp in smaller classes where they actually recognise you. And it does not help you in doing a good job in class, too.

Congrats! Step 1 in life complete. Move on to Step 2- college! After that- the real world....prolong getting to this step as long as possible, haha

Just to add to above, make friends with the profs in class, no brown nosing, but genuine interest and participation goes a long way. I remember one class, i just never got the material, always stayed after class to ask more questions and such, before the final i was orob pulling a F, took the final and no way possible i left that class with a C+. Bumped into the prof to ask how it was possible, he just smiles and said "have a great summer"

I agree with all of Ricel's suggestions, profs have ultimate control over your grade and it helps to show that you have genuine interest. Helps when you get into your chosen major and have the same profs over again. Also agree, go to class!!! If you don't feel like taking notes that day, fine. But go! Trust us. And when you get into smaller classes, especially with repeat profs, they will know when you aren't there and sometimes even call you out... more so in grad school. And yeah, don't decide on a major until you have to. I changed majors 3 times and really should have done a 4th lol.

Engineering, business, computer science, graphic design, and communications. 6 years later. Best decision of my life. I now work in a software company designing the look and feel of it, while also being part of the sales side. Then im starting my own off road company learning book keeping and all the business thing.

I agree .... Take a little of everything... And do not skip class.. I had a algebra course a few years back.. At 35 I was the old guy lol.. But in a class of 30.. 2 weeks later it was down to 15.. When it was over we maybe had 10.. Kids go crazy when they get a little freedom.. Issue is.. Your paying for these classes either way.. Ask questions.. And remember you do not have to go crazy all in one year

Yep mistakes of independent living can stick with you for a long time... ask me how I know. And yes, ask questions when you have them! Guaranteed other people have the same question. If you don't, and a test question has to do with it... you will kick yourself.

Thanks for all this advice guys! I have heard not only from you all but from others that its a great idea to make friends with the professors! I have seen first hand people "go crazy" when they are given freedom and I'm learning from their mistakes so that I don't end up making the same ones! Its also going to help the WKU is in my home town so I'm no less than 30 minutes from home!
