I've got a few questions that being a noob, just comes to mind.
My brother in-law tells me that sliders can and will twist your frame if you hit something. Is this an accurate account?
Snorkels, is there much a difference from one to the next?
Front and rear bumpers what gauge of steel is usually used?
Is a CB necessary these days?
This is a doosey. Molles: I see plates with large perforated holes and gear attaches to them, how are they attached?
I see all these incredible builds. What inspires the build? Are they a reflection of the characteristics of the owner?
I'm sure I have more odd questions, right now I can't think of any. Thanks for all your input thus far guys. Other sites aren't as patient, or as friendly for that matter. For a guy who really has no clue, but has to start somewhere. I appreciate it, thanks...

Your brother-in-law also try to sell you some blinker fluid? If you're hitting something hard enough on a slider to bend the frame of the truck, you've got other problems. Like dying. If you're going to wheel, sliders are almost necessary. One solid hit to the factory side steps will damage the truck. Period. Check out http://www.white-knuckleoffroad.com. He makes my favorite sliders, hands down. I wish he'd make more than just sliders. I keep trying to convince him, but...

Snorkels, is there much a difference from one to the next?

There's only one for the 2nd gen. It's made by Airflow. http://www.offroadgorilla.com/shop/airflow-snorkel-xterra-05-13

Front and rear bumpers what gauge of steel is usually used?

Typically 16th or 8th inch. Most of them out there are pretty well built. Hefty Fabworks, RLC Weldfab, Shrockworks, etc. When you get to that point with your truck, there are lots of people here who will help you spend your money.

Is a CB necessary these days?

If you wheel, yes. We still use CBs.

This is a doosey. Molles: I see plates with large perforated holes and gear attaches to them, how are they attached?

Typically screws and spacers to stand them off the body panels.

I see all these incredible builds. What inspires the build? Are they a reflection of the characteristics of the owner?

Inspires? I can't leave anything alone. If I'm not modifying something, I'm bored. Reflections? Yes. Always. Build it to do what you want it to.

No worries. That's what we're here for.

That was very helpful Prime, thanks for that. Although I still don't get the mole thingie lol, need a visual of the how it gets attached sequence.
The slider thing I thought was silly.
Snorkel, we'll I'm not sure if I would even need one.
Bumpers well you get what you pay for don't you.
I live in the city of 2.6 Million. That being said I love to fish and all that out door stuff. Going 2-3 hrs up north can be quite ruff on the average vehicle. Some places you can't even go because of the terrain. So it would be nice to have some that can take me there. That's what I want my X to do for me...

Well I got it paid for, they are putting new brakes and safety, emission's testing. All the paper work, should have it by Tuesday and I should have the cooler by then. If I get the cooler Monday I will have them install it, even if it is extra. Can't wait for Tuesday...
