I forgot about this thread. I started building a new rifle. Started with a blank Essential Arms lower and this is how it looks now:

I ran into one problem. The Magpul MOE trigger guard is made of a really tough polymer, and unlike traditional trigger guards that are attached with a spring and a ball detent at the back of the magwell, it attaches with a tiny set screw that uses a 1/16" allen wrench. Well, because of the tough material, the setscrew bogged down and the wrench stripped the tiny hole in the screw. So I found some button head allen screws that fit perfect and take a bigger 5/64" wrench. If anyone runs into the same problem, PM me. I've got tons of these screws.

M&P 15 Sport with Magpul MOE furniture.

There's not anything wrong with a Sport model M&P 15 IMO, but if I could do it over again I would've bought one with a fold down front sight and it would've come with your standard upper with forward assist and dust cover. I got this one for $650 maybe a month before Sandy Hook, back when I wasn't sure how addicted I'd get. Word of advice-you will become addicted.

Right now the only plans I have for this one are a MIAD or MOE grip, good red dot, and some more mags and ammo!

If the market ever comes back to like it was before Sandy Hook I think I want to build one, doesn't look too hard and now that I've taken mine apart and put it back together a few times it doesn't scare me anymore.

Nice rig, but, move that vert grip as far forward as you can, your mag well is already a vert grip to the rear...

I had it up there, but I tried using the magpul thumb break method and thought I was more accurate that way. Makes me sound like a hipster d-bag saying that, but it worked and I like it so whatever lol

Not sure what the "thumb break method" is, but, you should find that with it forward, you have much better barrel control, shot stability, and aim.

Just looked up the method you're talking about. That's what the military teaches for close quarters, but, the method is taught on the magwell, not on a vfg pulled all of the way back...

Not sure if I've posted it in here before, but, here's my beastie (current setup is shooting easily 1/2MOA at anything beyond 150m)

Well I have a couple things brewing for black rifles. The lower to the right is an Aero Precision lower with PSA lower build kit. It is [eventually] going to be a 6.8 SPR type build. Going with an 18" SPR barrel, FF rail, and 2.5-10x vortex viper PST. Pretty stoked to jump in to the 6.8 as it sounds like an awesome round.

The lower on the left is a PSA lower with magpul enhanced trigger guard, magpul moe+ grip w/ bolt core, and i put in a Geissele SSA trigger in it. HOLY COW, if anyone here is a serious shooter, get one. They can be had for $189 and are HANDS DOWN better than any other trigger I have used (timney, RRA match, and a couple ALG). This lower will be my SBR lower. 11.5" Daniel defense barrel, undecided on optic. I may go with straight irons for a whole until I can go for an eotech or aimpoint micro.

I got lucky and snagged two aero precision "blemished" uppers for $50 each. No visible blemishes other than perhaps as slightly different finish on part of one. However they will eventually be cerakoted. I will likely not finish either of these for 6-12 months because I need to save some cash, and I doubt ill get my tax stamp back any sooner than 9 months.

^ I may be way off but is that a geissele free float on the rifle in the middle?

You guys make me want to spend money I don't have on that lower I picked up a few months ago...

No it's a rail by Parallax tactical. The came out probably less than a month ago. FF rail that comes with it's own barrel nut. It was right at $200 shipped to my door. I can highly recommend them! I will be getting one for my 6.8 build. I believe it is compatible with magpul add on rail sections and other accessories as well. Check out weapon outfitters dot com if you're interested in one. I believe it's supposed to basically mimic the KAC URX rail.
