Want to hear something truly terrifying? An EMP strike could be launched against us with no warning. It's entirely likely that a Chinese or former Soviet communications or weather satellite is really an orbiting nuclear warhead. Think Goldeneye, the weapon in the 007 movie of the same name. If it's already in orbit, we'd get no missile launch warning.
In reality, though, I don't think Putin or any other Russian would be that stupid. It just goes back to the M.A.D. doctrine of the Cold War. They can't possibly launch a nuclear or EMP strike against every asset the US has, and one or two of our ballistic missile submarines would be more than enough to render Russia or any other country on Earth to smoking, glowing rubble. And they are enjoying their free market economy a little too much to throw it all away now. China may be a bit more unpredictable, but their growing economy needs the US as a trading partner and consumer market. So, as scary as an EMP strike is, it's about as likely as full on nuclear strike, which is about as likely as the dead reanimating and eating our brains.
Best bet is to plan for the most likely scenarios: natural disasters. Hurricanes in the Southeast, earthquakes out west, massive blizzards up north and in the mountains, wild fires seemingly just about anywhere.

I don't know how the hell I forgot tornados. We're under a tornado warning right now in my area.
1. Ahmadinejad IS crazy enough to do it. Thankfully, he doesn't actually have any real power when it comes to foreign affairs. The Supreme Leader of Iran is Ali Khamenei, and he's a lot more level headed.

I feel like a prepper any time I take the kiddo anywhere.....ok, not really but it feels like we pack for a camping trip each time we go anywhere.

Specifically, in the radio interview I heard, he said Iran was already training for such an attack.
Now they're almost nuc-capable, they could indeed build such a weapon.

Thread has been quiet for a while.
On cheaper than dirt today to order a couple NATO gas cans for a new bumper design.
Got caught up on a couple items I had on my wish list on CTD since I was there and had a few $$ left.

I've thought about getting some of the wise stuff, they were supose to send me a sample and never did. Not that it matters I'm still looking it to it. Medical gear, you can never be over prepared, even just off roading it would be smart to have some basics.
My wife and have been prepping for just little over a year. We joined a group in our area(Georgia Preppers Network) where we get together to learn and practice surviving situations. Seeing what has been going on in New York from the aftermath of Sandy makes me want to prep even more. If SHTF I'll stay at the house as long as I can. I have three bug out locations I can get to if we have to get the hell out of Dodge. The farthest one is in the mountains which is number three on my list because of the distance.
This is exactly what we are prepping for. Zombies will rise out this also. But, they will only remain in the cities for a short while before they start moving out into rural areas. That's why I plan on being deep in the woods and very well hidden to the best of my ability.
I'm friends with a few Prepper's on You Tube that turned down an opportunity to be on Doomsday Preppers because they did not want the publicity. I'm surprised that Eastcoast prepper on You Tube done the show. This guy has it going on.
