Changing tranny pan gasket-what else should I do?

Last weekends road trip spewed tranny fluid all over the underside of my 2001 because some of the pan bolts loosened off. I tightened them up and topped up the fluid before any damage was done but I'm going to drain the fluid and change the gasket. Is there anything else I should do while I'm there?
Cheers!

there is not really a filter to replace, it is more of a screen so just make sure that it is clean.

I am a big believer of external filters, especially on a truck with a few miles on them. Just a cheap bit of insurance. They just get cut into the soft line on the way to the rad from the tranny. It takes a grand total of 5 min to install one. I have had one for years, in fact it is almost time to change mine.

Sounds like a good idea, Thanks.
I noticed in the FSM it says to change the pan bolts since they are self sealing. Anyone done that? Or not done it?
