Friend ask me to install and find a subwooooooooooofer combo deal for her new car she just picked up. it has a stock deck so i'll be wiring to that. my question to you is most bang for buck, she listens to edm, some rock and rap, but a lot of trancey type music. i found stuff like this on crutchfield http://www.crutchfield.com/g_208250/Bass-Packages.html?tp=442
but was wondering if you guys had anymore suggestions. obviously she isn't a huge music head so she doesn't want to spend much. that's why i'm asking. i usually rock rockford and jlaudio but its out of her range, shes' wants to spend around 400 with everything and cheap labor( aka me) thanks!

Man.. whats with all this sealed 10 boxes.. I have a ported box that I built for my truck and it sound at least 45-75% better than before..

hmm, time to search. Is she opposed to having a used system? like bought on ebay or CL? or does it have to be new?

i can cut a hole... lol they are just premade boxes i made back in the day for old systems.

Not that easy, you have to work with acoustics and normally a sealed box doesn't have the interior cubic footage to make a ported box. You could invert mount the sub and try running a thin slotted port in that, but that would be a lot of work on your part for no gain on your side.. unless you charge her shop hours..

I'll see what I can come up with.

I have never had them, but they are an awesome spec for the price. The type X is just on another level.

So if you go that route, what would you like to see in the world of amps? Do you want to have a 1000 watt monoblock that just does work, or something slightly smaller and buy a new ported box?

I think buying a 200$ amp with a new box could really help, but then again, buying a 250$ amp that pushes if not maxes that type R out, that can be worth the money.. then later if she wants more then she can buy a ported box and transfer everything else over. That is what I did.. started with a sealed 10 and later moved to a ported 10
