Anyone going on Friday? I'm going to take that Friday off and drive over there. Since its about a 5 hour drive for me, I figured I might as well make it a 2 day trip.

Where are some nice spots away from everyone else to camp?
Since Ive never been here all I can find is the normal camping areas?

Up north has always been the least populated every time that we have been there. Down south is very close to Dover, TN and the population is not the classiest.

What do you prefer? Some facilities, no facilities, full facilities?

Any place on their map (link below) that says "Backcountry Area" is a somewhat improved camping area where you can use with a Backcountry Permit if I understand correctly. You will at minimum have a place to park and a clean flat spot to pitch tent, maybe a picnic table, and probably a vault toilet nearby. I'm not sure if water is available or not, I'm thinking not. (Usually the lake is nearby for non-drinking water.) These are your middle ground between a full on Campground, and just finding a spot off the side of a road.

As far as the number of people there, I've seen them deserted, and full. Depends on the time of year and any events in the area. Most people hog the shoreline, leaving the back half of the areas vacant.

I believe they do allow you to camp in many areas as what you call "dispersed camping" just find a spot you like out of the way. That is the most primitive option. Many of the access roads terminate at the lake, most of those spots you find signs of it being used for camping.

So, as we're closing in on the trip, I'm trying to get things sorted. I haven't been on one of these trips, so I'm curious what I need to do as far as food. Is this a group effort or every man for himself as far as that goes?

So it's agreed, it's going to be a free for all to see who camps next to Shane. May the odds be never in y'all's favor.
