A few weeks ago my wife's grandfather gave me his 1964 appleby 12' aluminum jon boat. I have some plans for it but fist to finish out the fishing season as it is. Oh by the way I brought it home strapped to the top of my xterra wish I would have gotten a pic of that.

Very nice! I have a 14 foot crestliner that I fish out of.

Thanks, I can't complain it was free. I joined a forum for boats the other day and have been learning a lot of information; plus there are a lot of cool build threads giving me ideas of what I want to do to mine.

Did you join tinboats.net? Lots of good info. If you have any questions let me know. I've got mine set up for bass fishing. Decks in front and back

I took the boat out for the first time and there was a leak. :( also the outboard was running rough for awhile but was eventually able to get the boat to plane.

No worries. My last one had several leaks. Is it leaking around a rivet? If so you could replace the rivet or get some 3M 5200 marine sealant and cover it up. As for the outboard the carbs are probably dirty. Glad it went relatively well on the first voyage.

Yeah my daughter was a little freaked out when I was having problems getting the motor started; she grabbed the ore and was trying to row us back to the ramp.
