I like to see that you are going custom built.. I wish I could be doing this..
Get a welder and go for it. That's what I did. You get a welder and then before you know it your building. I have so many ideas I want to do, but just not enough time or money.

And now you tease us with "This is done" comment

Your evil Mike ;)

Sorry I mislead you all, I just meant all the welding is done, but it is ready to be installed. I just need a whole day off to do it. Want to make sure it tuned and ready to go.

Well I had the coilovers on for a little bit today, but still have to do some more work. My shock mount was rubbing the cv, so I cutting the mounts and moving them up about a 1/2". This will give me the clearance I need. Here's a few pics what she looked like when they were on.

So Mike will you need to do all four corners in these?
I do not have too, but I will end up doing the rear. This will help with my flex problems. The struts are just limited to what they can do off road. Coilovers will give me more flexibility when I am offroad, plus I can get a good ride on road. I am going to have to put some limit straps on the front, because the orginal struts only had about 3" of travel, now I will have about 6.5" so I don't want to overextend the cv's. I am still shooting to have these on for the Devils Run, but I am not going to rush it. Plus the other good thing is the lift you get from these.

Have you ever seen this on explorers? My parents pointed this huge crack out to me. It's the hole body not just paint. I have no idea how it happen or how to fix it? Just wondering if you seem it happen before.

The only way you can fix it is to get a new door. Mine is the same way. They glue the plastic piece to the window, all the heat and cold cause it to expand and contract, which causes the problem.

If that piece that is cracked is on th lift gate then all you have to do is replace it. Its plastic. I have replaced these before. Call your local ford dealer for replacement, you might have to get it painted though.

Well I got the coilovers on today, everything went great. I have about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch clearance with the cv. I have to get both sides adjusted to the same height tomorrow. Here's a few pics.

That's looking good. I see the sway bar isn't attached. Got a solution for that, or just going to leave it off entirely?

Man I love these coilovers. I can not believe how much the Explorer rides better now. Now I am going to do the rear too.

That is the coolest Explorer I've ever seen. Brings back some fondness for modern Fords, but I'm still mad over what they did to their SUV's. Keep up the good work.

I got my 750lb springs on, way better ride. Also built me some homemade extended sway bar links. I used some 3/8ths threaded rod, and a 3/8ths steel pipe to make them. Explorer is ready for some wheeling.
