Done a oil change today. I decided to try the Castrol gtx magnatec; I will see how I does. I also changed the fule filter that was fun. I ended up dumping gas all over me twice. The bracket that was holding it in place was rut welded to the filter so I had to jerry rig something to act as a bracket out of hose clamps and zip ties.

Hopefully changing the fule filter will solve the issue I am having.

I also bought a Bluetooth obd scanner thing that runs off my phone.

I really need an engine bad. I have been adding a quart of oil a week for the last 3-4 weeks then this past Friday I added a quart. So Saturday I was running some errands and my oil light came on and stayed on for a little bit so I checked my oil level again and it was a quart low again. So today I was running around and it did it again and my oil level was low again.

The only time mine did that was when both cam seals and the front main were all leaking. New seals and all better.

So I just added some Lucas stop leak to see if that will help. When I started it this afternoon smoke was just pooring out of my exhaust. The bottle said it would help if with leaking valve seals; we will see.

Well I think my engine is done :( . I have been burning a quart of oil every 200-250 miles. Well I had a short trip to work got about 5 miles out of town and my X started jerking and the ses light started flashing turned around and drove home.
Here is the codes I'm kicking up.

And few times the o2 voltage dropped down to almost zero. I'm trying to find a engine.

I contacted a guy who is selling a 03 for $600 about buying it just waiting on a response from him. His X is having some kind of electrical problem with the transmission from what he posted

Burning oil is a bad problem. Which likely caused your cats to clog up and in turn led to the misfire. So they're all related.

Sucks man. Hopefully you come up with a cheap solution.

Well I'm going to attempt to drive her to work tonight. I am refusing to drive my wife's car until I absolutely have to, that thing is nasty inside.

So, I wonder how hard it is to install the SC 3.3 liter. The wiring harness would be a big issues, I wonder what else would be. Ya don't drive the wife's car, it will only break on you and the you have to fix it...:) Or that's what always happens to me

Yeah I got about a 1/2 mile out of town as soon as I hit 50mph it started acting up so I turned around and went to get my wife's car.

That suddenly fell in priorities for right now. Me and my wife discussed it and I am looking at picking up a 07 pathfinder and drive it until I get her fixed.

So a little update, I have been looking around for another X that I could get and just swap my parts over. I have found a few but either I would not get a response or they were to expensive for me. Now I have a opertunity to get a engine and have that changed over. Going to be contacting some garages tomorrow to see how much they will charge to swap them. I don't have any idea about what this will should cost so any input would be appreciated.

O the fun of engine replacement, enjoy the wallet draining
Really, it is not going to be that bad. The engine was bought from a guy that works at one of our sponsors for xn for a decent price delivered and the mechanic quoted $450 to swap them.

Wow I figured atleast a grand. Are you doing the timing belt, water pump, tune up, new hose etc. Or are you just doing a straight up, drop it in and go. You were saying there was 100 other things that you wanted to address.

Timing belt has already been changed not sure about the water pump though. He is also going to change the plugs and wires I can deal with the distributor. I have some steering issues that needs addressed. I need to get new shocks and my tires are needing replaced before it starts snowing. If I have the cash left over going to get some AAL to finish my lift. It was suggested by one person to find a set of 2nd gen leafs and use them instead of AAL. Oh also I'm having new cats installed because mine were clogged and could not get headers in time.

I should also have new exhaust ran because the pipes on mine are shot. It rusted through in one spot and in another spot where I had the pipe break in half I did a quick fix; so I could go on a trail ride without ripping the exhaust off. The tailpipe also fell off and I did a quick fix on that also. Ohio winters are rough on vehicles with all the salt they spread.

Now that's more like it, feel the wallet drain..lol I ended up getting the bilstein stocks, a little pricey but the quality is very good and they will allow for up to 3" of sup. lift. I only have the 1.5 PML right now. When my exhaust goes I was thinking headers and kicking the pipes out the drivers side right before the rear wheel. That would keep the exhaust tucked up between the frame and the leaf spring.

I just went through my steering, I don't know if you have the Calmini idler arm brace but for the price its worth getting, it helped alot to stabilize the passager's front tire.

Yep, I have a idler arm brace. I think I need to replace the center link at the least. I have been looking at the center link made by P&P Engineering just don't know if I can swing it right now. I am planning on ordering the bilestine 5100 shocks. I have a pml right now also with the AC upper control arms and I might replace the bushing I just hate paying their outrageous shipping rates. I also thought about getting the double sheer idler arm brace and pitman arm from p&p but don't know if it is really worth it. Right now I am just waiting for the final cost of getting the engine replaced so I can create a budget for what I need to get done.

I talked to the mechanic that is swapping my engine for me and he discovered that a blot in one of my upper ball joint had worked it self out. I thought that was strange since I torqued everything to specs oh well. Hopefully it is back up and running some time this week.

Well I got my xterra back today and it is running rough also the transmission is also acting funny it has no power in 2nd gear now. It is acting like it is slipping wich it did not before it went in to have the engine swapped. Going to drive it to work tonight and it may be going back tomorrow.

seems like they would have test drove it before giving it back to you. Maybe they didn't get the plug wires on good. Lets hope its that simple.

I put my new wheels and tires on today. I'm going to have to crank my torsion bars some more and do some trimming.

Buy the way these tires did good in the ice. I put them on over at my parents house and their drive way was a 1/4 mile of ice with two hills in it. The only problem I had was trying to back up a small portion of the second hill.
