It does, but only because I cut the pigtail for the original tag lights off and spliced the rusted one to it when I installed the Maxterra bumper in the first place. That way I can just unplug it if I ever need to remove the bumper. But no, the light is pure aftermarket and just comes with a length of two tiny wires in a rubberized jacket.

Those look good dude! Very bright. I like the way my amber LEDs look, and they're bright and all, but the amber color really intensifies shadows and makes it harder to see stuff in the dark.

How about these ones?

These are like having fluorescent overheads in the truck at night. They are incredibly bright. I think I'm gonna swap the driver side map light out for a red one, just to keep from blinding myself on the road if I need the light one night.

I got them from Amazon, and yes, they are plug and play. Just a bulb replacement. The kit I linked comes with 6 interior bulbs (use four and keep two for spares) and two license tag bulbs (which I couldn't use because of the Maxterra bumper).

Yeah, I thought so too. Even for only needing 4 of the 8 bulbs, this was the cheapest route. Plus I had Amazon gift cards. :D

License tag lights Version 3.0.
Version 2.1 had to go because two thirds of the LEDs longer worked, and the third in the middle flickered like a strobe light, which attracts more unwanted attention than having no lights at all. I've had the truck less than a year and have gone through two of these. DO NOT BUY THESE!

Used a marine LED bar from Seasense attached to a bit of 1" angle aluminum. The LED bar is totally sealed, so no water is getting in like my first LED tag light.

I also did my diff breather extension mod today.

I bought two Pro-4x wheels and tires from Derrick (Metzican) last week. One is going to go under the truck as a a regular spare, and the other one I'll throw in the back when I go wheeling. Learned from my last beach run that I don't feel 100% prepared with only one spare, and since Derrick sold me these at what everyone is selling spares for, i couldn't pass it up. AND, if I ever build an adventure trailer, I'll have a pair of matching wheels.

Keep me updated with how the new one holds up since we live in the same hot humid weather condition.

Finally, I'm posting a pic of the rack Boondox built for me. I hadn't gotten around to posting pics of this yet, because I had to do a couple of small modifications (remove a small bit of metal, drill new mounting holes, sand edges) to get it to sit exactly where I want. I did that work today. Now I'm debating if I want to cut the dimple die plate and top tube facing the hatch and reinstall them with hinges and hasps, so I can swing it down out of the way to load stuff that won't quite fit between the top tube and the headliner. I'm almost 100% certain I am going to do that, but until I decide, it will remain unpainted. Here's how it looks today.

A few small updates. Replaced the badly corroded factory battery and tie-down with a new Optima yellow top and custom batt tie-down from my old Xterra. Had a coworker cut and reweld some tabs on my interior rack so that the angled side lines up properly with the back of the back seats. I will be wire brushing it and plasti-dipping it sometime soon. I figure plasti-dip will keep it from being noisy if there are loose items and will be easier to fix scratches. I've abandoned the idea of having a flip down side on it simply because I think it will be too much of a hassle.

Progress has been slow of late because I've been in cheapskate mode and I haven't wanted to spend unnecessary money. In the next six months I expect to do a few minor housekeeping mods like rerouting my CB antenna cable and rewiring my Rigid Duallies, and I'm shopping for tires. One of my best friends just went all out and bought a Rubicon Unlimited as his first 4x4, so that may be a catalyst for me to increase my mods soon. That and the rate of my factory tire wear has me looking for tires right now. The top three on my list at present are General Grabber Red Letters, BFG Mud Terrains, and Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. It will all depend on what I find the best deal on.

Nice. The Optima upgrade is well worth it. I put a red-top in both of my Xterras. I sometimes go a week or two without driving my X and it always fires up.

I went with BFG's on my first gen and put the duratracs on my current X. I like them both but really like the look and feel of the duratracs. Any of those choices are good though.

Thanks for the input, fellas. I really have been leaning toward the Goodyears for a while, but the BFG Muds look so awesome on my buddy's Rubicon, and the red letter Grabbers just look mean. But I think, in the end, the Duratracs have the best compromise of highway manners, off road traction, and aggressive look for a daily driver that spends 90% of its miles on pavement. I just want something that's going to be ready and willing for that other 10%.

Mine spends a lot of time on pavement. That's the reason why I went with Duratracs.

Duratracs are just a well rounded tire period... That's what I'm going back to next... A big plus for me is they weigh less then most other tires... So that helps mpgs... In my experience the only issue I had wAs thin sidewalls but that's only a issue with 15" sizes... Traction was never a issue in any terrain and road manners were great and quiet... I love my Toyos, but in the end for something that gets driven down the interstate more then down a trail... Duratrac wins
