LSD tighter clutch packing for less slipping

I've heard that our trucks have about 90 pounds of force on the LSD. I wonder if you could repack the clutched to get to say, 350 pounds. Is this possible with a first gen. X

I had to really dig deep to find it, but I do recall a thread awhile back that had some information. I swear there was a DIY associated, but AG sites are the worst.

or get the clutch pack from an older pathy instead of superpacking the lsd

when i had the stock rear end with LSD i swapped in the pathy clutch pack and it worked awesome

00-04 plus h233b lsd is something like 120ftlbs of torque to break loose
the 95 and older pathy lsd were something like 260-280
being sas'd could have played a part in it but i hardly ever broke traction with the pathy clutch pack

In short, you could try super-packing it.

Umm not the best idea, I've had mine apart numerous times, the setup that i felt was tight enough, it lasted only like 800 miles and my spider gears got torn up, I've got it set right now pretty loose, sourced my friction plates from other X owners

IIRC the '02+ have a spacer taking up the place 2-3 discs compared to the old wd21, dig into the FSM's for the old pathys and both early/late X's to see how many are in each pack.

My axle/ transmission guy knew nothing about doing some thing like this. It seems to me that if it came from the factory on the path finders it should work fine in the X as far as wear goes. What is the FSM?

People have been super packing the diffs for years, even the fronts.

The rear LSD on the d21 that my daughter drives reminds you that it is there at every corner, and it has the same rear axle as we do.

Has anyone ever done a write-up on this? I asked a similar question elsewhere and have yet to receive a response. if you go the route of the old Pathy clutch packs, do you just need the stuff that goes in the carrier, or do you need a whole new carrier? I hate having a useless LSD in the rear of my truck. 29-43 lb-ft break away torque is basically an open diff. I'm locking the front so it's not a huge must-have, but it'd certainly be nice to get some functionality out of the thing.
