quick back spacing questions. Will these work for me

So I am yet another tire/rim newbie that needs help. I have a 2002 xterra supercharged with PML, RLC front bumper, currently with stock 17" rims, which I believe have 5.5" back spacing.

My local used site has some 17x9 XD rims in the right bolt pattern (6x5.5), with a plus 18 mm off set.

If my math is correct, which it may not be, the 18mm off set will make the 17x9 rims a back space of 5.7...?

Two questions:

1) is my math correct?

2) will these fit my Xterra With no body lift and no trimming? Sticking with a 265/70/17

If it's a positive 18mm that puts your backspacing at 5.2 inches which is less than stock. But that's a good thing since the rim is wider.

And yes, those tires will fit under the truck in that configuration. That's essentially a 32x10.50. Which is a good size for PML.

Be aware, you may still have to take a saw to the back corner of your front fender wells. That decreased backspacing is going to make the tires contact the fender at turns.

Thanks prime! The offset is positive 18 mm. When you say "some trimming may be required", do you mean metal, or the plastic part that snaps into the quarter panel?

As mentioned, I have an RLC bumper on the front, so should have a bit more room than stock there.

Yeah you're fine on the front half of the fender. You got room for days. But the back will need to be cut. When I ran 32s I had to just cut the plastic down. But with the reduced back spacing you may have to cut some metal to keep the tire from hitting.

Hmmm. Might just walk away from them. Good price for sure, but don't really want to start cutting metal. The old girl is 14 years old, don't need to be introducing any spots that promote rust

dont necessarily need bigger tires, I would stick with the 265/70/17. Just the rims I was interested In . Currently I pay to have my winters mounted and balanced every year, and it kind of Nickle and dimes you to death.

With 320,000 km on the old super charged girl, it's almost at the point where I don't want to sink a bunch of money in her. She looks great though, like the day I brought her home. Washed twice a week, every week. Waxed 4 times a year, every year, 3,000 km synthetic oil changes. Been a great vehicle, good hunting wagon too
