new bumper needs a winch

I finally decided to get the ARB bumper because http://4wheelonline.com offered me a good price. Now I need a winch. Is there other winch that I can fit on this bumper aside from Warn. I want something inexpensive since I already spent more money on the bumper and besides I only do moderate off roading. Thanks!

get an engo. Some on here say smittybuilt on here. I can't speak for them. Some say badland, they are hit or miss, if they work they do fine if they don't good luck. <= all of these are lower prices winch of course they also have a higher price option but you can stick with the lower price. I say 9k at least if not 10k.

Almost anything should fit....physically at least.

As mentioned by Metzican, especially if going cheap, get a 10k lb or so version.

If they provide the specs, look at the duty cycle...on the cheap winches, that's typically the single most damming spec...as a low duty cycle can mean, technically, that you can't even do one recovery w/o needing to stop and let it cool periodically....or risk burning it out.

The other spec is the line speeds UNDER LOAD. The cheap ones lose speed with little load...

And pulling capacity per wrap. ALL winches pull harder with a more empty spool (The larger the spool diameter from the line wrapped on it, the less torque the winch has)...but the cheap ones lose a LOT more when more line is on the spool.

IE: The winch is RATED as a "10,000 lb winch", with a 40' per minute line speed....

...but, can't pull more than 4,000 lb with a full spool, and can't do more than a coupla feet per MINUTE with a full load, etc.

Food for thought.

Another vote for Engo. I paid less than 450 for a 10k w/ the synthetic line. Disassemble and reseal the end caps with RTV instead of the stupid paper gaskets that it comes with. Voila! Waterproof.
