New Timing belt, cooling system question.

Hey everyone! Finally got around to replacing the timing belt on my Ivan this weekend.

Everything went smoothly, until i found out I had a leak in my Rad. I used a sealant, but now Ivan starts to overheat now, and there is no leaking.
My stepdad said I had to "prime" my water pump? Does anyone know how to do this or anything?

You need to bleed the system.. If you look on the top of the intake you will see a 9 or 10mm
Bolt.. Start the xterra and start adding fluid in the radiator.. When you see fluid start flowing out of the intake all of the air is out..

No offense Dave, but those pics are confusing as all s*** :)

This is viewed standing next to the driver's side fender, looking at the engine. The bolt is underneath/behind that throttle cable, right on the top of the intake manifold.

When you say "sealant" in the OP, do you mean stop leak?

I don't have any experience in a stop leak product, so take this with a grain of salt; and definitely wait and see what others have to say:

I'd be worried that the stop leak may have gunked up the thermostat or radiator cap, or maybe slowed down the flow in the system.

Otherwise, yeah bleeding the air out of the system should fix the overheating.

Yeah.. Sounds like you have a air pocket in the block.. It's a common thing if you are new to messing with water on a car.. It over heats because the water isn't moving

No, I know this is only a temporary fix. And the SC rad was what i was planning on getting whenever i found a doable price, which I just did thanks to you ahaha. Does it matter which one I get?

Is it fine for me to take off the hose that is right next tot he bolt? The bolt was stripped when i looked at it, and I dont have time to get it out before i go to work this morning.
