Looking good! I would like to get on the list if you decide this will be added to your line.

Looks awesome...

What kind of hitch are you considering for this? If as of yet undecided, might I recommend the "ring and pintle" style that the military uses on their trailers for increased flexibility without binding issues, (as well as great theft deterrent because most don't have a compatible hitch)

I personally second this and would like to add that they do make a 360 degree rotating lunette ring so the rig and trailer can rotate separate of each other. If that doesn't appeal to you, look up a lock-n-roll hitch. They're made specifically for off-road enthusiasts. Not as solid as a pintle hitch, but nothing is as solid as those. I mean, they use those to tow 50,000+ lbs

On either expedition portal or Ih8mud someone did a home built offroad trailer hitch and for the price vs the others you can buy I don't think it can be beat. But I can't find it.

I decided to go with the Max coupler, IT was the first thing I picked up when I started getting the parts.

A little more work, I put 1/4" aluminum diamond plate to cover the lid and a rack of course.

I talked to Eddie at Raingler today and that easy he built me a net for the trailer and sent it out, with a couple new grab handles. The one in the picture is the net for the hepsdesigns rack on the X, I'm going to be Rainglered out! Woot.

The hubs I hope to have option for 1st and 2nd if I can find them. As for 3 grand price im shooting for, I would say its a hell of a price compared to the 4 to 6 grand I see. If someone can find it cheaper with this quality I say buy it and send us all the link.

So, from the look of it, it appears as if you're prepping inserts to go in the sides, are you also planning a solid fender?

Well the tubeing was for a rub rail type thing and more storage area for cans or tanks, If its not liked then could be replaced with the flat fender thing that others use. With me driving I want rub rails lol.
As for lead time, I don't know yet, I just built this one for myself in my spare time, I haven't been in a hurry on this, I just wanted it done for WENT so no rush, but now with all the interest I'm finishing it up so I can start one for someone and then I'll know prices and time.
When I build another I will know more.

I like the tube, I was thinking laying some flat thin sheeting to the inside of the tube...

I would say 3 grand is a steel. Defiantly if it comes with tires. Everything I've looked at is in the 4-6 for the cheap ones all the way up to 20+.

For the hub issue. What i was planning on doing with the trailer I want to buils is get the axle a little narrower. In a 6 on 6.5 pattern then use spacers/adaptors to convert it to what ever tow vehicle I have. Lets be honest the tow vehicles will keep changing but a trailer can last you a life time. Since its really really hard to find hubs or even trailer brake/hubs in the 6 on 4.5.

I didn't think of the adapter/spacer idea, great thinking, I'll look into that to.
Dhyde that's what I'am doing with the aluminum diamond plate,, some plate steel like 11 gauge would be a lot cheaper, I just had a sheet of the 1/4" aluminum I used that is gone now.

I think the closest to yours would be the Ruger trailers out of Denver. I'd love to see one of these thought. Might actually end up being cheaper than finishing my homebuilt trailer.

I love the design of the trailer. I'm guessing the trailer sits a little higher then the X? I have the reverse problem I might need to get a bigger drop to make the trailer level.

So do you have a tongue jack? or is light enough loaded where you don't need/want one? I will be crawling all over this thing when I get to WENT.

Actually Metzican it's light enough but when the tongue is loaded with cans, cooler and tools it's not.
I plan to use a removable jack and adjusters on the rear corners. When its loaded it has good
Tongue weight. It weighs in at about 900 empty.
