Painting Plastics

I have searched the post as best I could and there may be something out there but I haven't found it. I want to paint all the rims, bumpers, roof rack etc black. My question is more on the plastic parts. I know prep is the key to a good finish and I was wondering how you guys have prepped your plastic parts. I plan to paint and not plastic dip or use a bed liner type product. Recommendations please.......
Thanks

The way I did mine was to clean them all well with dish soap and water off the truck. Once dry, wipe down with acetone. Using self etching primer from rustoleum, put on a good even coat. Repost if needed. Then do a few coats of your color of choice.

Sounds great. Thanks.
Did you guys use a paint engineered for plastic? I am going to paint everything not white on my truck and I don't want to have to use 2 different paints if I don't have too. Want them to match.

That's what the self etching primer is for
