Rad Skid Install - stuck

I bought some hefty skids off of a friend on facebook a few weeks ago, pretty stoked to get them installed.

Slight issue though (not with design, with my truck). I went to remove the tow hook and the nut that is welded on the side of the frame came loose. The weld broke or something when I was taking the bolts out.

Anyone had this issue before? If so, how did you fix it? I tried looking around with the googles on the interwebs, but I couldn't find anything directly related to this.

It happens.

Its hard to hold it still to get a new bolt in there too, but, it can be done.

If not using that anymore though, you could just leave it.

I had thought maybe I could get some locktight up there to hold the nut down maybe? Else I would be running just one bolt on that side and pretty much have to drill the holes for the other bolts right?

Was trying to avoid drilling, as I lack that correct drill bits.
and a good drill - she died the other day
(fingers crossed for new one, father's day . . .)

Yeah, you could just drill new holes with your father's day present.

:D

I've used grease, super glue, etc, to hold the nut still until threading can get going too, etc.

Fingers crossed on that, ha!

But I am going to grab some locktight and see if I can atleast get the nut to stay there long enough to get the bolt to thread.

Thanks TJTJ!!

Sometimes you can get some sewing thread for example, and use it to loop through the bolt to "fish it" into position where you can try to mechanically grab it, etc.

How far into the frame rail is it? Those captive nuts can sometimes be held with a large flat head screw driver or pry bar. Do you need the nut for the skid? Because you could always cut the bolt head off.

So I got the bolt out, I had to pull down on the tow hook while I unscrewed the bolt out. But once the bolt was out, the nut (that is inside the frame) was loose. You can tell it was welded at one point, as the other one is still in place and strong.

I couldn't seem to find a way to get to the nut other than the opening where the bolt goes.
