I'll be using Herculiner. I wanted to put down a coat of Por15 first but nobody has it locally and with shipping it's just too expensive. I'll see if I can find a similar product locally.

This thing is a monster, it's very very well-built, very beefy. I'll get a bunch of pics in the coming days.

The pics don't really do the swing arm justice. When I first saw the pictures on the RLC Facebook page, I honestly wasn't crazy about the swing arm. It seemed disproportionately large and gaudy in pictures. Seeing it in person and inspecting the quality on this thing have totally changed my mind, this thing is wicked and I love the way the swing arm looks.

I am sad to report that it did get a little banged up during shipping, I won't go into details but I've got a message out to James regarding advice on how to repair it. It's nothing too major, and I can tell from the pictures on the RLC page that it's NOT a manufacturing defect or lack of quality, it clearly happened during shipping. I'm confident it can be corrected fairly easily without having to send it back.

All in all, I'm very, very pleased and impressed with the quality and attention to detail. I would happily do business with RLC again, and I recommend anyone considering armoring up to strongly consider RLC.

Gussets on the inside of the body: It's a shame these will be hidden from view.

The center gusset even has a hole to attach a pair of rubber testicles to, haha (I'm assuming that's what it's for):

Well, James got back to me last night and helped me out, I'm already well on the way to having a fully-functional swing arm.

High-quality products AND outstanding customer service? #Winning

Aside from good quality, good turnaround time, and good pricing...his shining perk is the customer service.

Glad to hear everything is getting sorted. Eager for some pictures of that bad boy installed!

Right meow!!!

Is there a specific reason it won't let me type that in all caps? I tried editing it 5 times but it still kept reverting to lower case....

DAMN it man! is this not installed yet :)

It's not even painted yet, lol.

And it's driving me flippin' crazy, too, haha.

I got the latch issue all squared away, so it's ready for paint, problem is time. Home schedule is a mess right now.

Anyway I picked up a light to use as a new 3rd brake light, just have to figure out where to mount it and wire it up. I also have to get all my hardware, I won't be using the stock nuts and bolts.

Out of curiosity I threw it on the scale and it weighs in at 95 pounds, minus the new frame stiffeners. I figured I'd probably want to raise the rear end to the last hole on my adjustable shackles, so I started doing that and found that the passenger side bolt is frozen in the bushing. No bueno. So I have to get new bolts and bushings for that, too.

Lots of crap happening at once. With any luck I'll get it painted this weekend, and maybe mounted too. I'll work out the bushings and bolts later on if need be.

Oh, and I have to figure out licence plate lights, too.

Trying this stuff for the first time:

It's the only rust converter product available locally. Not what I wanted to use but I needed to get something laid down before the bumper sat around any longer. I coated everything with it. The brackets will just be getting flat black or maybe Rustoleum spray bedliner.

It won't be long now. The first coat of Herculiner has been drying for about an hour now, and I took tonight off from work so I'll be able to get it finished and mounted before our weekend camping trip. All my hardware came yesterday from McMaster-Carr, so I'm pretty much good to go.

A quick trip to Autozone will hopefully provide me with a set of lighted license plate bolts, and I'll figure out the 3rd brake light around the same time.
