A lot of states have the Help service now. I'm almost 100% Chicago was the state to first start it cause a lot of other states are always comin to check out the garage and go through the training.

Here's a big useless piece of junk we just got. It's a 90 ton wrecker. It has 6 winches and a 360deg rotator.

Damn, that thing is HUGE!

Why call it useless piece of junk? Looks sturdy and strong enough to pull anything out. Plus that bumper would literally obliterate a prius in a 10mph collision....

On the job injury? Man, you have my deepest respect. I cannot imagine being forced to retire from a job I love. Work any specialty units? If so, which one(s)?

Fighting with a suspect inside the back of a partol car, He was high on PCP and kicked the side window out, After being bit in the arm, hand and leg , with the help of a few other patrol officers we ended the fight. I had to have C5,C6 fused in my spine, right shoulder put back , two nerves in my right arm transpositioned. Not mad that I got hurt at all, just pissed I had to retire. I did 3 years as a Under cover in the narco unit, and 2 years in S.R.T unit with my first PD. And the rest in patrol. Always loved Patrol.

Wow, that's quite a list of accomplishments! Glad to see someone so active and involved in their city. How big is/was the city you patrolled for and how big is the PD? Luckily Idaho crime is pretty piddly compared to other more populated areas. Murders in the Boise area are well below 20/yr.

Ah yes, people on drugs. *sigh* human strength on drugs never ceases to amaze me.

City of Newburgh its small about 3 square miles, No money , No man power. It was rated New Yorks Murder capital for 2011. Total staff is around 75, we always ran about 25 to 40 calls a night, some times with only two patrol officers. One of our guys was stabbed in the back and neck about 6 weeks ago. With that being said still the best place to be a cop. Great guys.

Google "New York magazine October 2011" , local paper is the recordonline.com

Wow 3 sq mi and all that crime? Ugh. We patrol a city of 90,000 (second largest city in Idaho) and have barely any crime (relatively speaking). But probably the most calls of any town since scumbags migrate there.

This was one of the biggest events of the year for us:

Always hate to hear on the radio "shots fired, code 3 assist"

I shot a Pit in the head with a 45.acp, I felt bad and picked the pup up and carried him down to the road. Orange county chopper did a show on the area, they built a bike for us and the FBI to tray and get us some money. OCC is in the town, not the city.. lol

Wow, that was nice of them.

Yeah, been attacked by a pit, too. Gangster family in town. Hired a lawyer for their dog so we wouldn't put it down.

Our mayor/city council keeps cutting our budget. Not even going to mention how short-staffed we are (not supposed to let the public know *sigh*). It would be nice if famous people would do a charity for LE, haha!

Wow, just wow. You would think with recent events that having law enforcement in the restaurant would make people feel safer, not threatened. Good job Denny's on losing you only sober late night clientel.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The customer that complained was probably someone not LE friendly any way and did not want them around. Things like this are just pathetic. Most businesses thank us when we visit them for deferring potential vandalism/shoplifters, etc.

I do not visit the Denny's where I work anyway. Too many scum there to make it a worthwhile/relaxing break, haha!

Got approved tonight. Beginning my 3 months as a probationary fire fighter. 150 hours away from being a KY certified FF.

Feels like I just made one of the most important decisions in my life, glad I did it too!

Congrats! Kinda been kicking around the idea of applying to be a firefighter here in Fort Collins, but the application process is VERY competitive.

Nah cause we are the smallest department in my county and you're paid city right? Also a lot of my department is country and farm land not so much houses. When I get 150 cert I'm doing joint with the biggest department in our country cause my parents house is in their district. I'm not sure how many calls they have had, I'd look it up but I'm mobile. It's alvaton vfd in warren county if you wanna look them up. But yeah I know my dept rarely gets calls.

I'm so excited I've never wanted the next 3 months to fly by more than now. I'm on a 3 month/20 hours probation til I can begin responding. I plan on doing this as long as my body allows me to, which is hopefully a lifetime.

I work for a smaller paid city department and we make around 250 to 300 calls a month on the fire side. We also have an EMS division in the stations that make 400 or more calls a month. Its a great job. I love it. You won't get rich doing it but when you love what you do it makes all the difference in the world.
