Can we set up a members directory list, one thread where it's broken down state-by-state, then city groupings, with the link to each user and the contact email or something like that, whatever they want to give us, for each person and so on. So that when new people are signing up, or we're traveling out of our home area, they can tell who's in the immediate area to go hang out with wheel so on and so forth?

I'd even volunteer to keep the list up to date with new members and moves and whatnot...

A Google Doc may be the best for something like that
Eh, I'd rather it be something that's just a regular post/thread...

It works fine at TNX, and, frankly, those guys suck, I'm thinking a regular stickied thread would work just fine with a small handful of people keeping it updated...

That would be awesome. Says the one who is 400mi from home right now for the next ever.

You and diadaga(sp?) were my reminder on this, as well as the fact that I've been inviting every xterra I've seen locally, and, it would make it easier to help others locate people when in need (also on road trips)

We do have that google maps member map. That's a good start.

Google Maps sounds like a great idea for it actually. We have one already? Where is it??

I would love to be on the list. I need to get out more for this sort of thing. If Obi Crash didn't just up and decide to go to Shoe Creek yesterday I would have went with him. 12 hours is too short notice for that sort of trip though :(

How about also including whether the person has a stock truck, or a semi modded one, or a full modded one. So when you guys are going full up the mountains those of us who can't make that sort of trip know to stay back lol.

There are 3 points against the google members map.

1. Google accounts
2. Google's (total) lack of privacy
3. Mobile devices.

1. If I recall correctly, you had to sign in on a google account to be able to drop a pin

2. Any contact info I'd want to share with fellow members, inherently becomes public domain, because google shares everything it sees with TONS of different sources, so, if I want ya'll to have my cell number, google sells it around the world.

3. The system as a whole is very hit or miss on a mobile device...I don't mind them both co-existing happily, but, I firmly believe there should be something that's purely site based.

How about this.

This plugin allows you to make an Iframe on a new page of the board: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=281787

F
rom there we could easily put an HTML document in it that includes tables with the defined information.

Or we could make our own visual map that does not include Google. I'm sure there is a way to do that.

The iframe page could then be set by Dave to be private (it's in the ACP settings when he installs the mod) so that only logged in users can view it.

So I think that would solve just about every issue listed here.

Just a thought after reading some random posts...

Despite a good number of X owners here do their own work...would it make any sense to have a section dedicated to mechanics in areas that folks here know and trust. Doesn't have to be the cheapest(but would be nice) or the fastest but someone that the poster would recommend to a fellow X owner in his/her area that does respectable honest work that's not trying to rip someone off.

Like I said...just a thought.

Hey... is it possible to add an option to select which sections each person sees? Like only show me VIP, Gen1 and Classified or Gen2, General Discussions and Welcome Center?

Regarding the Tapatalk API. I have a problem w/ Tapatalk HD on my iPad. It only happens on this forum. Every other post I make or read the app crashes. And 1/10 times when I reload the app it complains that the API is old and out of date. Anyone else?

On mine I have to sign out and sign back in sometimes to get it to refresh the topics. Whenever I do that it pops up the api alert again.

Dave/Luke/Mr. Fink,

I'd like to do some cleanup in the Mid America Xterra's group. I have the option to delete discussions but am unable to select the 2 I would like to delete. Is this something only you guys can do?

The mobile app is working flawlessly for me
But the full site on my PC is dog slow. Not sure if that's on your end or mine but I'm not having issues with other sites.

Suggestion.

We're out there dropping cards on the random Xs we see in the world. Those of us that are regulars here jump right in and get posting. I thought it might be effective to put a new front page on the website. When someone goes to Xterranation.org the would see a simple two item graphic menu.

Option 1: Did you receive one of these cards? :: picture of card :: click here to read more about XN. Why we're here, what we're about, why you should be a part of this place, mods to maintaining and everything in between. Maybe a blurb about nXm, WENT, GONE, etc.

Option 2: Already know about XN? Click here to continue to the forums.

That way when people find a random card on their window they're not just tossed right to the forum. Where they're expected to register and post immediately. Give them a reason to. Let them know what's up. I just think it would make the entry into the site a little more graceful for people who have never been here before.

I like this idea I feel like the forum might be a bit much for people who don't know what it is right away
