Glad Nissan stepped up the warranty. Definitely wasn't expected. Still waiting on a recall for the Gen 1 Titan Front Diff.

I like it... but yet...

80k at 8 years is pretty weak.. My 09 has 80 ;) and the 3k to pay for it?
I have seen quotes for that with out Nissan doing it...

But over all its better than Nissan acting like this was not a issue...

Yeah I got that in the mail last month.

Too bad my 2005 has 166,000mi. I swear car companies have no concept of car useage/mileage. Or they do and still want to screw those of us who commute over. Bah!

For those that only drive 10,000mi a year, woohoo lucky peeps!

So just outta curiousity...If you've already purchased an external Tranny cooler and this problem is corrected because the can no longer mix, will Nissan reimburse the cost of the cooler? I've got a Gen1 so I'm just being nosey...lol

That would be a major long shot I'm sure. I am surprised they even extended the warranty.

See here's where I'm confused. By extending the warrenty aren't they saying yes we know there is a problem. And IF it goes bad during this warrenty we will correct it. However, when the warrenty expires, you're own your own.

Seems like it would be cheaper in the long run and customer friendly to send/install a tranny cooler.

I understand about the number crunchers and the probability factor... but still.

I bought an 05 X off road with this smod problem. The dealer replaced the radiator and flushed the trans. I still have a vibration between 30-40 mph. I went and bought an extended warrenty thru an aftermarket company. Will they fix this if my trans goes out?

you will need to know if they cover drive train,,,

Once this issue happens it generally fails pretty quick..

How many miles are on it?

I have 99,000. It does cover drive train. Since this work has been done the vibration has kinda been better. Just worried. Really like this truck and have some mods I would like to do.

From what I heard Nissan changed tranny fluid in 2010 and it was supposed to fix this

The part number for the "suspect" radiator is 21410-EA205.

The part number I was given for the "non-suspect" radiator is 21410-ZL31A.

Someone in the know will need to verify this as the only thing I did was verify that I had the SMOD inducing version before I performed the radiator ATF cooler bypass.

My plan is to add a cooling fan behind the factory auxiliary ATF cooler controlled by a thermostatic switch, and when it is time to replace the factory radiator upgrade the unit to a Koyo 2-row radiator, part number A2807.
