Since gas prices have started climbing I put the black rock steelies I wanted on hold. Im wonder if I should stick with my alloys or go with steelies. I know alot of yall opt to run steelies, can you explain what pushed you that away. Discount tire posted a thing over on clubx about steelies vs alloys. Ive been looked around and neither side really can out do the other

Steelies: I like steelies but there so dang heavy especially wrapped in 33s
Alloys: Most of the backspaces get you in trouble with bigger tires

*I wrecked my xterra and it did some damage to my left rear wheel and im tryin to decide whether or not to replace the wheel or swap to a set of steelies

thanx

Steel wheels are more durable on the trail against rocks, but as you said - a drawback is their weight. I actually don't find it to be a drawback and the increased inertia makes for smoother acceleration and shifting

cool, man i did some checking abou the wieght of the black rocks vs my gear alloys.

The gears weigh in at 30 lbs a piece
the black rocks come in at 37 lbs a piece
what do the stock nissan wheels weight???

Thats gonna be an extra 28 lbs plus what ever the step from 265/75/16s weight to 33s

Steel is much better for a trail rig.. They can take a beating much better.. and the weight helps on the trails...
Dents can be trail fixed
Hurt MPGs, Limited designs

Alloy is lighter.. Not always a plus on the trails but doesnt hurt much either.. Can crack easy Easier on the MPGs,
Cooler rims to pick from
