I don't know about anyone else I have a obsession with being prepared for a zombie outbreak and just buying random army surplus things. I have some stuff but not much. I'm going to go through and list some more stuff but here is just my favorite thing!
Israel Civilian Gas Mask issued in 1993, last inspection was 2003. It was never opened until I opened it. I have 2 filters for it, and a drinking straw. As for people who are still in the army...go ahead and show off all your gear lol :) and thanks for your service!!

Left to right: OC Foam, Magazine, Radio (not my duty radio, but that's where it goes), medical glove pouch (normally there, but I only have one and I wore it on my FD uniform recently), handcuffs (with extra key hidden on the body side of the belt), Level III Safariland holster.

Above the belt is my earpiece/mic for the nights at the club when you can't hear yourself think, much less hear a radio on your lapel.

I've got a 32" waist, so I don't have a lot of belt space. I've learned to adapt and overcome. I have 14 rounds in each mag, so the 15 rounds in my pistol and the extra 14 should give me enough lead to throw back until help can get there.

I do paracord stuff for fun too, but, I'll keep my hands out of that arena, I don't like stepping on people's toes....bad enough that I make a rack that's pretty similar to someone else's...but then again, it's a roof rack, hard to get TOO innovative with that....it's boxy, it holds stuff ;)

anyway, as far as tactical gear, I'll not be putting pics of MINE up, but, I will give you all a nice list ;)
but first, the explanation...I'm an 8 year army vet, who has been approached a few times for voluntary recall as well as having had a trio of PMC's actually inquire as to whether or not I'd be willing to work for them if the pay was right. I've declined the PMC's obviously, but, old habits die hard, so, I keep most of my gear in a locked case, ready if the need were to arise...(zombies hello!)

So far, the equipment list is as follows:

Firearms:
(Being shipped)
**Barrett Model 98B with leupold scope (thermal scope scope as soon as funds allow)
**Springfield XD in .357SIG with 5" tactical barrel armor black coating, full length guide rod, match grade barrel, and extended magazines
**Springfield XDm in .40 S&W armor black coating and extended magazines

(on hand)
stoeger P350 12ga mag pump
franchi 12ga auto (don't recall model number)
hipoint 9mm (it's cheap, it shoots accuratelly, and I won't be heart broken if I lose it)
hipoint .380 (see above)

(contemplated upcoming purchases)
SR-25 Assault Rifle with heavy match grade barrel (replacing the AR10, AR15, and SR25 I sold to get the barrett)
870 Express Magnum Marine Edition (if I get it, it'll be sent in to have armor black coating instead of the shiny nickel coating)

Ammo:
(on hand) (quantities NOT listed for safety reasons obviously)
9mm speer gold dot JHP
9mm federal "personal protection" copper jacket slugs
12ga heavy bird shot
12ga magnum buck shot
12ga magnum slugs (need to find a good deal on cases of these)
.380 JHP "personal protection"
.308 match grade
.223 match grade
.338 Laupua Mag match grade hand loads

(being shipped)
multiple varieties ammo for .40 and .357SIG, as well as barrett loaded .338 Laupua Magnum rounds for the 98B

Gear:
Multiple Tactical Vests, non-armor bearing
Flak Jacket
Ballistic Plate Carrier (no plates as of yet, haven't decided what kind I need to get for it)
multiple sets BDU/ACU's Black, Urban Digital, Snow, Woodland (no desert or "army acu" yet)
canteens, canteen carriers, and more ammo carriers than you could possibly hope for.
shoulder holsters, low ride leg holsters, tactical belts....
tactical "3 day bug out bag" x3, multiple duffle bags, and pretty much anything like that, that you could think of that the army issues you ;)
army 3 piece sleeping bag system (green bag black bag woodland goretex shell plus stuff sack)
multiple "tactical/survival" knives (my cold steel recon tanto is one of my favorites here, #2 being my old school Gerber Mark II survival knife)

The only things that I'm really after to complete the setup is a good medic bag, drag bag for the rifle(s) and shotguns, and a couple good gas masks with 3-4 replacement cannisters each, a tazer or two, and a bag for cleaning kits and maintenance parts for the weapons

oh I need cases upon cases of MRE's too, and if you come to join me you'd better have at least 6 skill ranks in MacGuyverisms and 5-6 ranks in Mythbusters (Combined) as well, we'll need it....

as far as my gear collection goes, it's enough to cover my own @$$, not sure if it'll do much to cover many extras, I can cover me, hopefully the wife if she takes instruction well enough, the baby will be fine, she loves riding on my back, and thankfully the neighbors across the street are pretty survival competent as well.

oh yeah, add 2 100' rope coils and plenty of climbing/rappelling gear, as well as print copies of the army survival, sere, first aid, and advanced aid field manuals.

Private security firm out of Memphis and a smaller company out of Nashville. The small one sees the most action.

I know filters are only good for a short amount of time but I've had that one open for about 10 months. I have used it twice, once while repainting the fenders on my old jeep, and the other week while using heavy chemicals on my bathroom...also stopped my eyes from being irritated by the bleach and all. It also seals very well, I can put my palm over the filter hole and breath in and the mask will collapse a little and I can't get air so it is air tight for the most part. Think it was ~$30 from outdoorbunker.com

It is a creepy gas mask but not as bad as the russian mask that cover your entire head with the rubber part.

it isn't that the seal on the canister goes bad, it's that the chemicals that neutralize the harmful chemicals become less effective. you should be able to find the model number on the can itself and a little research will find its "exposed to air" life expectancy.

Never knew that..well like I said when I used it a few weeks ago I couldn't smell bleach at all, but who knows how it would hold up to pepper spray or tear gas after 10 months :)

This is also why the other one I pictured has 2 plugs on both holes and is in a sealed bag!

pepper spray or tear gas is by far the least of your worries....

but, if you want to really test your mask against pepper spray/tear gas....PM me, I can tell you how to make a tear gas/pepper spray unit that'll test your mask just fine ;)

Tactical Assault Gear Aggressor Armor Plate Carrier
Springfield XD9 Service model
New belt and Level II Safariland holster (Level III is on backorder)

Once the Level III comes in, I'm going to put the Level II on a drop leg.

Review on the TAG Carrier:

The Sm/Med will fit PERFECT once I put some armor in it (5'9, 150lbs, 32" waist). Fits loose without it, though. Not too crazy about having all the loose ends of the straps hanging out, but I'll figure out something more permanent to fix it.

My X has basically become my camping / survival / off-road buddy. Well, that and my dog.

In the X at ALL times:

D-rings & tow strap, shovel, gas can, and hiking stick on roof rack (soon to be changed to low-profile roof rack to hold spare tire and 4-gallon gas can), tire gauge, maps, phone chargers, multi-tool, duct tape, 4lb sledge, tent, sleeping bag, hoodie, pillow, thick paracord & thin paracord, tent stakes, knives, hatchet, 7 flashlights with extra batteries (that's right - seven), two walkie-talkies with extra batteries, extra phone batteries, hiking boots & socks, fire starters, bungee cords, hitch & ball, bug spray, zip ties, ratchet straps, jumper cables, granola bars, water, canned goods (chicken, fruit, and beans, along with food for my pup), monocular, more knives, aspirin, standard Xterra first-aid kit, road flares, small wire cutters, lockpicks, latex gloves, work gloves, ziploc bags, compass, 6-liter water jug with purification system, machete (Gerber Jr. Gator), tomahawk, bow & arrows, sabre saw, spork, water bottles, electrical tape, hand wipes, shop towels, camp stove, scent killer, fire extinguisher, wool blanket, survival guides & books, trail maps / topography information for the entire state, and tubs and bags for everything. Compression and mobility is the key. This doesn't include the bug-out bag from home that includes a set of clothes, 9mm Ruger with three mags, spare keys, first aid kit, flashlights, a book, a deck of cards, vitamins, dog food, matches, and running shoes. You never know. I'd rather be prepared than not.

Soon to be added: Hi-Lift, ladder, Mossberg 500, portable hammock & hammock slings.

If you think about it, the Xterra is sort of the jack-of-all-trades when it comes to stuff like camping, off-roading, overlanding, adventuring, and general survival. Maybe that's why I was so drawn to it.

I didn't even know this thread existed! I'm glad I stumbled upon it :)
