I recently purchased my 1995 LSi 3/5 for $420 with 210,340miles on the odometer. I bought her to offset my gas hog Nissan Xterra named Emma.
When I picked her up, she didnt start or idle. A few days later I had her starting on her own. The next day I picked up a new PCV valve and some B-12 chemtool and got her to idle. Ran a compression check and check plug gaps. Plugs were all at 0.037 and compression was at 110/65/35 which mean a rebuild is in store. I found that the rear fender wells are rusted and those will have to be repaired. Once every of those issues are remedied I will start actually building the geo metro that will turn heads.
Started the tear down process
This doesn't look promising
This would explain the mud
Back half is gutted
Cleaned as much of the dirt and mud out of the engine bay as I possibly could with the garden hose and a can of Gunk. Which yielded great results.
I went ahead and pulled the timing belt cover off to confirm cam timing was on. Also stuck a timing light in the bay ad found that the car is running 14* advanced which is making it run... BARELY. More reasons to get this engine torn down and rebuilt. After I washed the bay down, I inspected the frame horns. They look very clean and still very solid. I did miss some of the dirt down lower...uhhgg
Quick little sunset-ish picture I grabbed
I still have a long ways to go before this car is "Safe" to drive on the road, but hopefully have her good to go within the next few weeks.
