Timing belt on a 2002 xterra

Hello xterra brothers, my timing belt went out on my 2002 xterra yesterday, and my question is.... what are the chances that any of the valves got bent???

Very high. It's an interference engine. So probably above 90%.

Just got mine fixed and they were fine. Found out at WENT that somewhere around 2000 Nissan started putting some relief on them to help prevent the vales from being damaged.

It all depends on what was going on when it happened, like were you at idol in the driveway? or doing 75 on the highway? The best thing to do is put it all back together and check.

More than a few people have been very lucky with no damage when it broke on them.
