you know what joe, what i was told today from a dealer is the color is actually the same price when they buy it. the xd40 msrp's for 660 and the shop sells it for 525 here. for any color od green, desert tan and black. i thought the same thing though when i was buying it looking at the price tags. so i got out the door with my license, registration, gun for just over 600 i was pretty stoked.

Tammy did that for you Kev? Sweet! MM won't go gun shopping without me. I wish she would. If she shopped for guns as good as she shops for shoes, I'd have a frickin' arsenal.

I'm getting an XD45 today, trading it for the '69 bug I have sitting in my driveway. He's throwing in a couple of boxes of ammo for a couple of fenders I have laying around too.

Funny thing is, I paid $400 for the bug and the fenders I paid $10 for. Finally, a deal that goes my way!

Can't wait to take it out and throw some lead down range.

My carry gun is a Glock model 30 .45 subcompact and I'm completely happy with it. A friend recently got an XD9 and I really like it a lot too. Luckily I'm not in the market for another gun right now so I don't have to face these tough decisions. I will say the Beretta just doesn't feel right in my hand. But then I don't exactly have average size hands I guess.

For those looking at a TLR2, I've heard not so good reviews from people. Mainly bulky and terrible battery life. Look in to the TLR4 for a better, less bulky, and cheaper combo.

everything i've read also. i have read good about the tlr1 and tlr4 though.
I have two TLR-2 weapon lights and have no complaints about them. As for the battery life and durability in the TLR2 vs the TLR4, the TLR2 has a brighter light, a longer run time, and an all aluminum housing vs the polymer housing on the TLR4. The 2 is bigger then the 4, weighs 1.9 ounces more, and does costs more but it's a better light in my opinion....but hey opinions vary.

Ratt, check out opsgear and their thoughts on gun mounted lights. It's not always the best idea...especially for home defense...

I haven't been on there, but is it in reference to it giving someone a target to shoot at?

Exactly, and, you have to turn your gun and body in the direction you want to look. If you have it separate, you hold it away from your body, point to a corner of the room (less damaging to YOUR night vision) and immediately move from where you were when you activated the light, and always in short bursts or strobes.

It's a concern for sure. On my carry hand guns I have no lights but carry a Surefire 6P for use with my weapon just to cut down on the bulk for concealing. In my house gun I'm not worried about the bulk so I use a weapon light. My issue with a separate light is in order to use it you lose one hand on the weapon and I don't know anyone who does not shoot better with both hands on the weapon.

Whatever you decide to use make certain that you actually train with it and get used to shooting and manipulating the light.

Very true, well, mostly, if you practice one handed shooting you shouldn't have any trouble keeping your shots in the "vital" section of a silhouette target.

Practice is the important part, I try to do a house drill at least once a day, preferably after dark, because it's most effective then.

I have night sights on my Beretta PX4 storm 9mm... It's the law enforcement edition with no safety and no decocking lever. Not available to the public.

I love the night sights... I have thought about adding a light or a crimson trace laser... kinda bulky though. The night sights are definitely enough to place a good shot at night.

what does anyone think about fiber optic sights? At the moment I will be keeping my stock glock front sights, but the fiber optics appeal to me for some reason. more than the night sights

Fiber sights are great till you have to use em at night, get the trijicon's for about the same $ as a good fiber optic set and be good regardless of conditions

any of you shot the CZ P-07 9mm?

No, but, it's based on a 1911 frame, which, shut it out of my options. I looked at it, but, didn't like the way it felt at all...

My ffl guy said he'd had one and had test fired it and it wasn't "bad" but certainly not on par with an xd or other high end pistol

i want to build a "tactical 9mm" and that was just one of the guns i wasn't familiar with, so figured i'd ask. the sigp226 came up so much, along with the m&p shield. i'd love a sig but 1200 for that damn thing is crazy.

I had a firearms instructor once that painted a fake pile of dog poo black, then stuck a flag on it that said "Tactial $hi+." Tactical is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

BTW, if they haven't sold out yet, CDNN has the DAK P226 for <$600 right now. Order today only. I wish I had the scratch, I'd be allllllll over it like white on rice.

Nail in the head, but, I was wondering what his "tactical" function was, because in all of my army training and experience, the only thing I was ever told to put on a gun was a night sight and a silencer.

Lasers and gun lights are nothing more than target illuminators/indicators....for the other guy.

Yep. My duty pistol doesn't even have all that tacticool crap. I do have a drop leg for it, though, but that's mostly for "tactical medic" training.

I'm a huge fan of drop leg rigs...they're the only holsters I use. it's funny as hell when you're walking around in an open carry state with a drop leg rig on in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, you draw some REALLY funny looks...

such as? a pistol should be pretty naked, I mean, unless you want a show piece...
