I'm looking at 15x8 6x5.5 -24 offset. With 31x10.5 tires. My truck is stock height. Will the fit?

A 15 x 8 rim (nominal size) is 9" wide, so zero offset = 4.5" of BS. If you had POSITIVE OFFSET instead of NEGATIVE offset, you'd be good to go, as 24 mm is about an inch, getting you ~ 5.5" of BS.

Unfortunately, you have - 24 mm of offset listed, dropping the BS, instead, to ~ 3.5" instead of the 5.5" you wanted for clearance.

With 5.5" of BS, 32x11.5/15 fit with no metal trimming...on a stock height rig.

With essentially stock sized 31x10.5 tires, the 3.5" BS would mean you might have to move some metal out of the way.

Make it +24 mm offset, instead of -24 mm offset, and you're golden though...as far as clearance goes....and could get 32's instead, with more room to boot.

:)

Off road, generally, a narrow rim holds the bead better though, so, an 8" rim is not optimal.

Thanks a billion. I've always have been a little confused on the -/+ offset

Ok I confused myself again. Negative offset would push the wheel out of the fender well and positive would tuck the wheel further in right? For example if I was to be like those kool people back in the 90's who's wheels stuck waaaaay out of the fender that would be negative?

Ok did some calling around and I now know what you are talking about. If I go negative then they will stick out to much and hit the bumper trim right?

If you go with too little BS, the FRONT tires swing in too wide an arc, and tend to hit more stuff. Its an IFS thing mostly, as on my Jeep, less BS INCREASES F/R tire clearance...but, on my X, it decreases it in front.

The REAR on the X is fine with less BS though (Live Axle)....so I use wheel spacers (1.5") on the rear hubs (Which is exactly the same as a rim with less BS).

Perspective: If you use 3.5" of BS with even 31" tires, you tend to be trimming metal to get the front fitment to work...but with 5.5" of BS, even for 33's, you only need to trim plastic.

Can I get away with 4.89 backspace ?

I COULD write you a note.....

Probably...its always just a question of degree on these things...as in trimming metal can be minimal, or major, or anything in between...for 32x11.5 it might mean just a little BFH massage at the lower corner by the rear of the front well, by the lower fronts of the front doors, etc...or you might squeak by with just cutting off the little soft plastic ledge your lower front mudflaps used to screw into.
