ok, here's the deal, I posted this in TGWPS but, I want to make sure everyone has a chance to see it....

let me know if you're interested and I'll add you to the list....

What?! Do you have more details on this? That sounds epic.
I don't know what that does but it sounds like I want one when I get a new/better winch.

well, I was going to make a separate thread for it, but, I'll give ya'll a few days to mull the idea over...

http://gigglepin4x4store.gostorego....ccessories/pro-series-albright-contacter.html

this is the link to it, my contact with the company says they don't really do a "group buy" deal, but, to gather numbers of how many people are wanting to order them and let him know and he'll see if we can get a good deal on discounts.

the specs are simply this. it's a unit that replaces the entire solenoid pack, handles forward and reverse, and handles a constant load of 800 Amps, and is 100% waterproof, also worth noting, if/when these fail, they're engineered to fail "open" rather than closed like many solenoids do. Warn, superwinch, milemarker, and a few others are switching to for their higher end winches and tons of winchers in the UK and OZ are switching to these, because they won't overheat and die, leaving you trying to paddle up a creek without an oar.

so, if you're interested, make it known, and, I'll send a number to them and see if we can't get em brought down a little on price. I'm not entirely sure how the shipping part will work, but, he quoted me that if I got the order in today by 3pm I would have the solenoid on wednesday, so, pretty awesome turn around time for these guys....

Your "I don't know what this is but I want it" attitude is amazing, Chris.
Never claimed be the smartest cookie in the box lol and yall know I'm electrically dumb. But if he is talking about using it to relocate/replace the control box for his winch then it's something that could be useful for me since I've already had to rewrite my control box to get it to a spot inside the engine bay instead of on the bumper.

well, I'll be honest, I'm the type of consumer that companies love and sales people hate, because, before I spend more than about $50 on something, I'm going to research the weaknesses and shortcomings of just about anything, get opinions from everyone, and all of that fun stuff.

The shortcoming of *most* if not all winches, is the solenoid system. The extremely expensive winches have moved to these contactor boxes, and, in doing so have a near 0 fail rate (due to the box failing at least). Thus began my search for one of these. Find one, wire it to any series wound winch that has a near zero fail rate on the motor, and boom, rock solid winch set up. So, I ordered an Engo e9000, knowing that I'm going to have to silicone it to seal it up. Now that I've found this, I believe that I'll have a near-indestructible one...

anyway, with the Solenoid Replacement unit...ya'll chime in if we want em, and I'll keep a tally, and send it over to them, and see if we can get em to come down a little on the price, or, maybe a lot....who knows...

I've read them plenty....I was under the impression that if it didn't interfere with a product that one of our sponsors sold it was a non-issue? Seeing as none of our sponsors sell this part (if they did, I'd happily be ordering it from them) it's a non-interference?

Wireless is complicated. That needs some kind of controller. As far as wired, you have an in and out solenoid and a trigger wire for each. Power comes in one side of the solenoid, and out to the in and out legs of the winch.

Nope, wireless is cake too, my wireless controller has the same 4 wires that my wired controller attaches to, and one spare that free hangs as the antenna

Only difference is I'm going to take some great precautionary advice and hook a switched relay up to the power lead for the wireless controller so that if I'm not actively trying to winch, the wireless unit is off... That way no stray signals can jack with my winch...

Can someone let me know how does hooking up the controls to this work. Wired and wireless.

It'll come with a diagram, but, you take your in/out/common and hook em to the three tabs on the front of the unit. I'll probably get a little Distro block to put in a waterproof box beside this so that I can run my plug in port to my front bumper, hook my wireless controller up, and quite possibly hook up a switch for in/out in the vehicle itself...
