When I was new to working on the X (and cars), I was always wondered what certain parts of the engine were, or where things were located that other users were talking about, but there wasn't a good overview anywhere. I hope to end that with this overview. These are specific to a normally aspirated (no supercharger) 6 cylinder Gen 1.0 (2000-2001), but should be very close for the 1.5 (2002-2004).

Awesome idea! This now needs to be expanded to cover the underside, transmission, and complete driveline. If I get a minute this weekend to crawl under there I'll take some pictures.

Does anyone happen to know a part number for the intake hose (Air Duct) I can't seem to find it anywhere on either RockAuto or Autozone's website.....that's one of the things I need to replace due to a giant tear in it....

The 2004 _does_ have a front collision sensor. It looks to be mounted where the hood latch is; on the vertical radiator core support near the top. When looking for anything related to the airbags (SRS), look for yellow connectors and wire loom. The brain for the SRS system is located in the center console, under the arm rest between the front seats.

I believe I have a picture of it somewhere, but it may likely be lost in one of the old GPWS threads. I'll see if I can dig it up.

EDIT: Eh, maybe not? No yellow connector here. What say ye, Maudeeb?
