If I can't I can't find another X, I'll be selling most of the mods to my brother and move them over to his X. But I've got my fingers crossed. I found a 2011 Pro4X in TN with a limited lifetime power train warranty and found another 2011 Pro4X in TX with lifetime power train warranty. Might have to get someone to check them out for me

A little update... They finally found out what is wrong. They said the timing on the passenger side was off by 35 degrees. They said the cam phaser was bad. So ordered that new and should be good to go. Hopefully I will be reimbursed by the company once they see the part is bad. Once it's fixed, I'm taking parts off and selling it. As much time/blood/sweat/tears/$$$ has gone into this rig, I'm at my breaking point with it. I've done nothing but fix it in the 5 years of ownership. I can't keep putting money into it. If the things that were breaking due to off roading, then I certainly wouldn't have a problem with it. That's just how the game is played. If money wasn't an issue, I would take to a pasture and blow it up and have friends unload some lead into it. Some parts are going to my brother's rig but I'll definitely post up some parts when they are available. I would love to keep my snorkel and put it on the new one but I'm not sure if I can find a silver fender in time. Once I sell it, I'm going to attempt to snag up Killswitch's rig. Even though he is going back to VA, I have no problem flying to get it and driving it back. It looks like a great rig and has a lot of what I want on this current one.

Yea, if I get reimbursed, i will only be out of pocket around $200-$300 which isn't bad but I have to front over $1k and hope and pray that its covered under warranty.

I didn't even know Chris was headed back to Va. Sad to see his is selling his truck too. Sad you are selling yours, but glad you are looking to try and pick his up. He put a lot of time and effort into it.

I don't blame you at all for wanting to get out of that truck. I know I would have dumped it a long time ago. I hope it all works out for you.

I don't blame you a bit. Mad props for sticking with the X even after all you've been through with one. I guess you know first hand that not all are like that and you just got dealt a bad hand. Glad you're gonna stick around, man! :D

Yea, NO ONE ELSE has had as many problems as I've had so I know that mine is just a dam lemon. I talked to Chris aka Killswitch, he traded his X in last night for a Dodge Ram. So I'm going to try and contact the dealership and see what they are asking. He seems to think that they aren't going to sell it on their lot and send it straight to auction. He took the skids off and a few other parts. If they are willing to sell it and the price is good, I'm going to try and snag it. I would fly there and then drive back. Talked to Chris and would try and swing by his house and pick up the skids for some $$. I would much rather get a Xterra that's on the forums so I can see the history of it and how its built. I trust Rob's input when he says that it's a good rig. It looks like he's taken care of it and didn't beat it up. Plus, the M205 diff and rear locking diff is a major plus.

Small update...

Heard back from the mechanics... They installed the new cam phaser and its still not running right. So they are going to talk to the company and see what they can do. At this point, I'm about to take it to the dealership and have them just do it. Absolutely ridiculous. If I wasn't worried about the $$, I would take it out to a pasture and blow the sumbich up! So I'm just waiting again on them trying to fix it. They've had it for almost 3 weeks

I've been looking and looking and looking for another X to get and I think I've narrowed it down to 3 of them.

One is an 2005 OR edition with Shrock front bumper and unknown brand sliders (possibly shrock also). Looks really clean. One Owner. It has 114k miles on it which is decent. Currently waiting on undercarriage pictures. According to the CarFax, its been through TX, VA and now DE. The owner was in the Air Force. They said its very clean underneath. They are asking $8,500 for it.

2nd one is also an 05 OR Red. It has a little more miles on it with 144k but its a lot closer to me. They want $7,311 for it.

The only thing I don't like is the pretty good body damage on the drivers side. I also like it for the fact his build thread is very extensive and detailed so I know just about everything he's done to it

Man, been a while since I've updated this thing... Not much new has happened. Still keeping my eye out for a new rig but I'll most likely be keeping my X for about another year or so. Might keep it for a while if I get a nice DD too and make it my weekend warrior.

Meanwhile...
Snagged these 2-2 Gallon Fuel Rotopax Cans and mounting brackets for $80 of CL! Not sure where/how I'm going to mount them yet but I couldn't pass them up.

Damn, I just realized that I haven't updated this thing since march!

Changed out the front brake pads, new ball joints for the SPC's and that's really about it until you read below lol.

Still having my clunking issues with the suspension but I believe we have narrowed it down to the top shock mount or that little rubbing bushing that goes in there. When I put new shocks/springs on, they reused all of the original stuff so that very well could be my issue.

Also went out w/ my local off road group for a little exploring.

I worked on the X last night with a mechanic buddy of mine. The plan was to change out the spark plugs, air filter and do the camshaft sensors and hope to see if that fixes the misfire code I've been getting. Well, we found some very interesting things out. The alternator... not bad like my main mechanic says (I know, they aren't doing anymore work on it from here on out lol). He said that there's a sure fire way of checking the alternator by having your vehicle running and disconnect a battery terminal. If it cuts off, the alt is bad. If it keeps running, its good. He could have just used a multi-meter but I didn't even realize that until now. Also said that it wasn't whining like the other mechanic stated. So that was good news, I can take back that expensive sumbich. So now, we think its the starter going out which is why it feels weak at starting up.
**NOW HERE'S THE KICKER** I take the covers off to change out the spark plugs. Pull the drivers side bolts off the coil packs while my buddy was doing the pass side. Well low and behold.... ALL 3 COIL PACKS on the pass side were ****ing loose! One wasn't even hand tightened. He hit it with a wrench and the sumbich was loose as hell. Like the bolt wasn't even threaded! The other 2 were barely hand tightened! So we tightened everything up and now the engine doesn't shake like it did in the video. Also needed to change my air filter so I took apart my air box and found a lot (to me) debris in the air box along with dried mud. It wasn't a lot of it but I was shocked. So I took the box out, hosed it out really good and cleaned it the best I could and put the new filter in. To me, it sounds the same, maybe a little better but he says it sounds a lot better. Plus, the engine isn't shaking like it was before. So I'll wait till Sunday and see if the codes produce anything and go from there!

Here's pics of my airbox...I think mud/dirt got in there because if you look at the pictures, you'll see some gunk right where the air filter seats into the air box and I don't believe it was sealing properly.

My snorkel head came in today! It's a little rough to be honest. Big gaps and such in the seams. Going to have a body buddy of mine work on it smoothing everything out. It doesn't quite fit the snorkel but a little trimming and it should fit. Sat it on there just to see what it would look like. Also need to figure out on putting some mesh inside the mouth to help keep debris out.

Been a hot minute since I've posted lol. Both SPC ball joints were cut again so I contacted Chris at Nisstec to see if he could help me figure out why it keeps cutting boots. Turns out that the coil spacers that were on the truck when I bought it are not 2", they are in fact 3" lift spacers which is way too much and giving me too much upward and downward travel causing the boots to contact the actual shock itself and not the coil bucket. So I went and bit the bullet and ordered up some MK84's and new boots. Can't wait till they come in and finally get a smooth ride!

Certainly had an intersting day Sunday... Started out just driving on the dirt road just really exploring and then came across basically a 3-fork. He went to the left first and it was just soupy and he almost got stuck. So he managed to get his way out and so we tried getting as close to the trees as we could just to get around it and get back to the "road". His winch wouldn't stay locked in so every time he would winch it with any weight, it would just spool out. We tried just about every method we could to get it out and nothing worked. 2x4's strapped to the tires, hi-lift jack... etc and nothing worked. There was a guy who lived about 10 mins away and his little punk a$$ refused to come help unless we paid him $150 and he's part of the damn club we are in.

So we posted in the local off road group we are in and had a buddy with a 94 YJ with a 12k winch and the VP who drove over 45 mins with his YK on a trailer to come help. Daisy chained it and that winch pulled me right on out, easy peasy. I'll never be going to this spot ever again.

But before that, finally put the diff cover on. I threw on a clear coat to help protect it and it basically ruined the paint on it. Not sure why because I used all the same brand. I think I may have waited too long to clear it. It was raining and had to stop and bring it in.

Here's one light coat of clear...

Messed the center up a little trying to get the cap off but oh well. I'll repaint it while its on.

Next on the list is getting the front bumper fixed. I should be dropping it off this week to the fabricator. I'm also getting a quote on a set of skids for him to bend up for me. Basically the same ones that are in the plans floating around on here.

Also have to change out the battery terminals, mount my led rock lights, mount my power inverter and get a CB Spring for my antenna. Also gotta get some flag pole mounts. A LOT TO DO BEFORE WENT!!

Dropped the front bumper off at a new fabricator to get all purtied up and fixed. Adding an actual winch cradle, recovery points, front rad skid, fog cutouts and top tubing. He sent me this picture last night... Apparently the original guy had incomplete welds and cut holes in it somewhere letting water in. It was nasty black water that came out so he will be welding it all shut and fixing it all. I'm very excited for what he comes up with. I gave him a bunch of pictures for references but told him he kind of has free range on what he thinks works best since I have no idea what works and doesn't work. So I'll be riding bumperless for a few days lol. Oh, and he is going to bend me up a tranny skid, engine skid, and trans case skid too.

Well I wish I could say today was a good day but it wasn't. Installed the MK's Saturday, picked up and mounted the bumper Sunday and today it all went to sh1t. Some dumb f*ck pulled out in front of me and I smoked his rear drivers side. Of course he fled with no tag number or anything.
