It looks awesome. Now go and get that truck dirty. It's too clean. Just kidding, good work. I would only add a snorkel for increased hp. Cold Air is a good thing.

That's me. I love the fact I have a CAI now and it just looks cool ;) I also got it for a steal.

It will give me a little more confidence wheeling but I'm definitely not gonna go crazy now that I have one haha

This discussion is going on over on my CX build so I figured I would get y'all's opinions..

Here's the way it's run now..

The blue arrow points to the tube that goes through the fender and where the snorkel is attached to.
The red arrow indicates where the tube runs into the fender and just opens up.

A more zoomed in version..

This is inside the fender.. Still the same arrows meaning the same thing.

The way it is now, I have no snorkeling capabilities. I believe someone over there said I should have run it to the other tube? I don't know. Would it be possible to just completely eliminate that tube right here and put a plug?

That second tube with the ambient air sensor needs to go away.

1) Take the air box out and fit a PVC end cap into the hole where that hose is connected.

2) Silicone the crap out of it. I also put a few small self tapping screws in it to make sure it can't move.

3) Then drill a 1/2" hole in the end cap and fit the ambient air sensor to that hole.

4) Snork

The small tube has a temperature sensor. Should be relocated easy and move it over to the big one then plug the little one. Maybe I could be wrong. Maybe someone else other options.

That was exactly my plan I was thinking in my head. Just needed confirmation haha

Actually... Do any of you guys have any ideas on how to mount this? I would like it center mounted right about the top of the hatch somehow.... Any ideas?

My first choice would be on the rack, but other than that, I would drop the rear of the headliner a bit, and drill the roof. Once you drill, paint the edges and RTV the crap out of it.

I thought about on the rack but the thing is.. That'll be the tallest part of the X (minus the antenna) and I really don't want it taking whacks from branches and whatnot..

I thought about making something like this.. I just don't know if I can haha

If you slide the factory crossbars all the way back you can drill through it horizontally and mount the light behind it so that it does stick up above but will be far enough back to be effective.

Good luck w/ Xoskel. Better off just fabbing up a rear mount and call it a day. Maybe get w/ Dave on it. He may be able to make something like that for ya.

How did you have that mounted jackal?

I've also thought about mounting a sheet of metal to the bottom of the crossmember and having it extend out to the hatch and mounting the light there..

I had a pair of brackets I got from someone on CX years ago. They mounted under the roof rack where the bar connects to the roof of the X

I saw a pic the other day (Not sure if it was in this thread or not) where they took the bolt for the rack mount (where it connects to the roof) put a the light on then a nut to elevate it then placed it back in the roof rack. Something like that might work for you if you put a bar across. I plan on putting the light straight on the bolt since I have 2 pods.

Home depot sales bars of metal...... if you can find one that will work you might wanna get one with a right angle on it for rigidity

Tay, I took your advice. It was a busy day! Main objective: make the light bar.

I bought a long piece of channel metal. Then I ran into the first problem..

6B210CA6-9764-485E-BCF2-260FE73AB8F0_zpszmohxsui.jpg

It's not flat. I had to bend it a bit to get it to work. I also grinded down the ends to get a flusher mount.

997F705C-F0F6-49B9-A59F-6077B88D2E01_zpszctwrihw.jpg

After a little more grinding to get it right, it was done! After a coat of paint, it was mounted!

Wiring is coming soon.

I also painted the side molding that I neglected to a while back. And I bedlined the winch hook that got into some ground a few weeks back.

Glad it worked out for ya....saw it on ig first.....I need to try and find the right kind of nut for the bolt. Was yours long enough for the bar and still thread into the factory hole?

I actually didn't use a nut. Just cut a hole in the long metal piece and bolted it straight into the existing thread. Simple! Here's a better picture..
