Here is my Nissan Xterra (Alaina) that I purchased in June 2013. I purchased this vehicle knowing very little about Xterras but knowing plenty about Nissans. My hopes were finding a cheap suv or truck with 4x4 as an option that could take me wherever I wanted to go. Well, after a long search on craigslist I found my Xterra at a dealership with a free carfax. It was one owner and dealer kept all 12 years/140k miles of ownership. So, I am now the second owner of this beast and have enjoyed it so far. In fact, after getting the xterra for a steal I purchased some 31” BFG A/T KO tires and took it out wheeling to see what it can really do. After taking it through mud holes, deep trenches, steep inclines, and even sinking it to the doors in mud the xterra proved it was worthy and got my attention. Shortly after I found club xterra and then xterranation (which is now my favorite forum) since everyone is really helpful. After seeing what these are capable of and what people have turned them into it sparked my “mod bug” and also my enthusiasm to start a build thread.
Specs:
- 2001 Nissan Xterra XE 4x4
- 5 speed manual
- 31” BFG A/T KO Tires
Modifications:
- Painted all the plastics (black of course)
- Bedlined the roof rack
- Mounted Coke bottle opener on rear bumper
- Pioneer Bluetooth stereo
- All 4 speakers replaced with Memphis audio
- Wired my 4 year old sub/amp
- Purchased a raingler cargo net from xterrraperformance
- Got some HP increase from graveyard graphics and xterror04
- Installed Uniden Cb radio with 4’ firestick antenna
- Wired PA to cb radio
- Removed side steps
- Resonator delete
- Rancho shocks
Modifications to come:
- Yakima roof basket
- Offroad lights (ideas for lightbars is needed)
- Arb front bumper (may just fabricate my own using oem bumper as a base)
- Also looking into fabricating a rear tire carrier or mounting spare tire on roof (I use my roof rack so this doesn’t seem reasonable)
- Hardwiring in a power converter in the back
- Suspension lift (need ideas that don’t break the bank)
- Quest alternator swap
** I am open to all ideas you may have for my build. In fact I encourage it so I can broaden what I may do to my Xterra. I am also up for creative ideas. If you have photos of the ideas you are suggesting feel free to post them on my thread or pm me.**
** If you want a more up to date about my build or just want to connect via social network add me on Instagram my user name is cm_oldschool I will follow back.
Time for the photos:
Here is when I purchased my xterra
Here is when I took it off roading (Right after It was sunk to the doors in mud)
This is the bottle opener mounted on the rear bumper also can partially see the bedliner on the back bumper
The BFG tires before < After
After reading the forums one of the problems (slow acceleration) and bad fuel economy I went searching and found my fuel filter to be orginal oem 2001 haha. So 12 years for a fuel filter isn't bad. Anyway, I changed it solved all my issues.
Well I really would like to keep posting photos of my build but the uploader doesn't like me for some reason. If you have instagram just add me cm_oldschool and scroll through and you'll see the progress until I can figure out how to add the rest. If you can comment and tell me how to add photos to comments that would help also.
