So I'm at it again with getting old military trucks. This time I got myself a M931a2 5 ton. Has some work that has to be done to make it road worthy again. But she drives and runs great.
NICE! I've always wanted to snag one of these and bob it. Around the lakes out here, it seems like you always see guys out playing in the sand dunes with these.
This truck is staying mainly how it is. Some minor changes like all the lights will be changed over to led and it will get cleaned up a lot.
Then I'll find a smaller trailer for it and that will be the X hauler for when I wanna do that.
But those black things on the front rims ya see are part of air system that will automatically adjust all the tires to set pressure with a push of button in the cab. All six tires have it on it
Oooooo awesome! What is the list of things you need to do to it other than the lights? When you say "cleaned up" do you mean internally or painting and stuff externally?
I am quite envious of it.
Since I am not overly familiar with military vehicles (other than a Gama Goat, haha), is it manual or automatic? Is that a removable roof top? And can you show pics of the inside?
I'm excited for you, haha!
Don't have a real list built yet but I have to fix the power steering do some painting. Newish seats window seals. And new cover.
It's a 5 speed auto with turbo diesel. Currently it has a soft top on it that is removable but that's gonna be changed out for a hard top. I'll take some inside pics next time I'm down where it's parked
So I finally had some time with this truck today and got some inside pics.
To the right of shift lever is the tire pressure system controls. Just push a button and it will inflate or deflate to a set psi. Needs some work though.
And where she is parked next to a couple others who some one else owns. Mine is the 1st one
