Hey folks, I purchased a 2002 Xterra SE about 6 months ago and have lurked on a number of Xterra forums before deciding to sign up for a couple. All the older posts in a lot of the forums have helped me do the following:
New torsion bars
New shocks
New leaf springs
1.5" lift
AC upper control arms
New tie rods
New centerlink
RLC rear bumper (I think the 6th if I was able to count correctly)
Tons of neglected routine maintenance (ujoints, small engine parts, fluids, etc)
Lokka and diff drop in the works
I'm loving the X, even though my truck was a bit on the beat-up side. Picked it up for pretty cheap and have been overhauling since. I'm in NM, so not a whole bunch of rust to battle with which is great. I do have a terrible vibration going at 60+ mph that I'm currently, deperately, trying to track down. I made a post about it in the first gen forum, so if you have any thoughts on the matter I'd love hearing them!
My plans for the X are to make it a fairly capable almost-overland vehicle. I'll keep most of the trimmings like refrigerators and such out of the picture, but my intent for the thing was to have a capable 4x4 that can travel long distances to get to the places I'll be wheeling/camping. So far (other than the incredibly annoying vibration) this truck is promising to fulfill that role perfectly. So thanks so far for all the help while I was just a lurker; hopefully I can share some interesting stuff soon!
