ooo do tell.

What you did?

They shared a link about their field editor using pinterest (LINKED)to plan his next overland vehicle build. Surprise of all surprises it's 2014 Wrangler unlimited rubicon, who would have guessed??

So I posted this comment: You guys have some awesome and unique builds on the forum. Why highlight ANOTHER Wrangler build be creative and do something different.

I've decided that complaining about everyone doing wranglers will be my new past time on the internet. I posted this a few days ago after somebody shared a "custom"jeep build and it ended up on my page.

To all the offroad companies (yes I know they most likely won't see it but f@ck it)* out there. You're turning into a one trick pony yall wanna show off and impress people with your work and creativity then stop building wranglers. Everyone has done them and they all look the same just with a different paint job. So if you wanna stand out and show off then build something that doesn't have multiple 50 page catalogs dedicated to under $500 parts for it. As a friend put it "It takes a catalog to build a Jeep, It takes creativity to build an Xterra."

I mean don't get me wrong I used to have a wrangler and I liked it except for driving at highway speeds or when it was super cold. I wouldn't mind having an old one in the future I'm just sick of everyone thinking they are super special when if you paint them the same color they would all look the same.

Also as a former Heeper, I know they are fun. And there is nothing quite like wheeling something with a short wheelbase and no protection but a roll cage. If I had unlimited monies, I'd buy another YJ and build another like the one I used to have. It was fun to wheel, but miserable to drive every day and don't even get me started on the repairs.

But the Jeep is not a Swiss Army Knife. It does one thing. And while it does that one thing really well, it's not practical in the rain, in the cold, in the extreme heat, if you have more than 1 extra passenger (4dr jeeps aside, which really aren't jeeps anyway), and I just don't see the billion person following that they have.

if funds weren't an issue, and, I was going to swap in a TD, I'd go after an older cherokee with a manual transmission, they were good all around rigs...much like xterras....throw a cage in it, and have the windows all replaced with bulletproof glass or lexan, and then go to town armoring the hell out of it. once that's done, I'd make it so that there is an onboard faraday cage box to put spare electronics in with everything being quick-swap set up, so that it'd be an ultimate bugout rig....lift it with D44's or D60's and some 35's and give it enough fuel for a 1000mi range, on veggie oil....

otherwise, I wouldn't *TOUCH* a jeep for personal ownership, too much maintenance...don't get me wrong, I like riding with the neighbor in his on occasion, and I can admire its capabilities, but, I also see how often it needs fixed, and, I have zero desire to be the guy that's always working on something just to keep it running. upgrading I don't mind, fighting to keep it alive, I mind.

I had a JKU. It was fun for a while. But eventually all the problems and shortcomings outnumber the fun stuff by a huge margin. That's why I'm back in an X. No regrets on selling the jeep either.

Only jeep I'd have in the future would be a CJ. But even then id rather have an old Bronco.

I'm a kid in a candy store, I just found out that I'm getting a purpose built industrial contactor, that's been designed ground up for winching, and, is rated at 800A **CONSTANT** draw, and is 100% waterproof...

For cheaps! ($120ish)

If there's any interest, I could reach out to em and see if they'd do a group buy (it's coming from the UK)

What?! Do you have more details on this? That sounds epic.
