I'll be massaging this initial post a few times to update the info but here we go! I'm going to try to make this informational as well as a chance for me to show off my new wheels (or fail miserably in front of everyone's eyes).
My current tires are spent! I've been wanting to get new rims and tires for a long time and I've finally put my order in (they are suppose to ship Feb 9th). As we all know wheels are somewhat limited for our trucks considering offset and bolt pattern. I searched exhaustively for what I liked and I kept coming back to the DPR line of wheels especially the Commando's. And who doesn't like going commando.. The offset is way -off- but the wheels can be custom drilled for virtually any bolt pattern.
Here are all the baseline numbers that I believe to be true:
Stock Wheel Specifications
- Awesome wheel and tire size calculator that I used a lot during this process: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp
DPR Commando Matte Black (specs are based on how I ordered mine)
- carid includes a free 'install kit' new lugs etc
- they are being assembled and delivered to my door
- I decided to put in new TPMS sensors
- installing on a stock height xterra

Here are all the baseline numbers that I believe to be true:
Stock Wheel Specifications
- 6x114.3 bolt pattern (metric - mm)
- 6x4.5 bolt pattern (SAE - inches)
- Wheel lugs/nuts share a thread of 12mm x 1.25
- 16x7 wheel (at least on my base/X model)
- Wheel weight: ~25lbs
- 30mm offset (from my experience offset is what the wheel manufacturers reference)
- ~5.2” backspacing
- 265/70R16
- 30.6" tall, 10.6" wide
- Tire Weight: 35lbs
- Awesome wheel and tire size calculator that I used a lot during this process: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp
DPR Commando Matte Black (specs are based on how I ordered mine)
- 6x114.3 bolt pattern
- 18x9 wheel
- Wheel weight: ~40lbs (according to a rep at DPR)
- 10mm 0mm offset (closest I could get with clearance for calipers because of rim design, they test fit a 10mm and it hit the caliper)
- The inside edge of the rim will sit 4mm (~0.2") deeper than the stock wheel
- The outside edge of the rim will stick out about 46mm (~1.8") more than the stock wheel
- 285/65R18
- 32.6" tall (+2" over stock)
- 11.5" wide (+~1" over stock)
- Tire Weight: 58lbs
- There appears to be some secret sauce with these tires.'Xtreme' sizes feature a deeper tread depth, and a more aggressive tread and shoulder design. If you go to toyo's site and look at the specs you'll see XT in the construction column if the tire has this feature.
- My tire selection wasn't overly analytical. I wanted an AT, aggressive + attractive sidewall, with good overall reviews. I narrowed my results to something like 5 different tires. The battle ultimately came down to these Toyo's and the new BFG ko2's. The deciding factor was tire weight. I found several sites and forums talking about how heavy the ko2's are. Over 71lbs! However I just looked at the manufacturers website and they are listing them at just over 58lbs now. So.... Maybe they sent out the wrong specs initially? If so that makes me really sad because at the time of ordering the ko2's were on sale via 4wheelparts, were cheaper than the Toyo's, and I liked the sidewall the best.
