2" BL with ARB Bumper?

I have done some research and have ran into a stump. I have tried searching for a similar topic for help but no luck so sorry if this has been asked before...

I am interested in doing a DIY 2" body lift on my X in conjunction with my PML. (Wanting to run 33" meats) My only issue is my ARB bumper. From what I understand is both front and rear bumpers will need relocated. Which is fine. I figured drill new holes for the stock rear bumper... But the ARB bumper maybe different. Has anyone done this? Will I need to drill, weld, or get new brackets to mount it 2" higher? If I need new brackets does anyone make and sell them?

Thanks :D

From what ive read, I think you will drill new holes about 1.5 inches below the factory ones.

I went with RLC and comes with the holes for the adjustment for the 2in BL

Trying to clarify... Drill holes on the front bumper itself?

You can simply drill new holes lower on the bumper mounts for bumpers that use integral mounts (Shrock, etc), but, you can't with the ARB because it uses "wings", brackets that go back to brace the bumper...and you can't raise them.

So, for the ARB, you have to fab a new way of mounting it...and, the best way is to sleeve the frame horns and make a bracket/brace that replaces the structural integrity of the wings/attaches the ARB to the frame horns. This will be stronger than the ARB was initially, and, have better ground clearance.

I had a 2" BL with my ARB. I drilled new holes ,5" higher on the frame and holes 1.5" lower on the bumper. Worked fine for when I had it.

Yes.
Sorry for the quality. I'm at work and my mobile camera is basically a potato.

Here is the driver side.

Passenger side

Both sides have this flare around the mount that I circled right under the mount that if raised would definitely be problematic.

Did you just cut off the braces that went to the rear?
Yea I did...but that's definitely not the way to do it. It worked when I used it, but I was always intended on re-welding them back on. If I had to do it again that's what I would do.

Interesting. Well I ordered all my parts for the 2" body lift today. It will give me some time to PB all the bolts and what not and ponder how to effectively raise the ARB bumper and rear bumper. If I cut the "wings" off like yellowx16 did, Surely there is an alternative to welding? It could take months before I get around to welding it.

Think im going to just cut the wings off and drill new holes. I won't get 2" out of the new holes but maybe 1.25". So there will probably be a small gap between the grill and bumper ... Oh well! >:)

Great info drbandkgb! So if I contact RLC and tell them I need new brackets for an ARB bumper for a 2" body lift will he know what he needs to make or does a need a diagram? Or am I better off selling the ARB and getting something more body lift friendly? haha!

No RLC doesn't make a bracket.. I sold my arb to rattfink and went with RLC.. They are the same price as arb and much stronger and BL friendly.. James is a killer guy to work with too. We have a RLC fan page.. Check out some if his work

Oh gotcha. Right on. Thanks for the info man. My tight budget though I may not get what I need out of the ARB to get something else. This ARB goes for atleast $900 new. Not sure what it would be worth used. I'll definitely check out RLC. I am not sure I want to look for Shrockwork do to how long it takes.

That looks pretty damn sexy. But I do like the tubing on the ARB style that goes around the headlights.Do they have that option?

Just say no to shrock... So many options out there that don't take 9 months to build and ship

Here's the pic of the mounting you wanted. The wings are still on there.

Thanks for the pic Rattfink. It looks as if new holes were drilled on the frame and the "wings" were trimmed off and welded to allow the lift. Although I had imagined a similar scenario with the lowest drilled hole not seen in use in your photo. But didn't really like the idea of it being drilled on the edge. This opens me perception to a better way to attack this relocation. Thanks again man!
