I'm interested in lifting my GI Joey<- aka the X, I've red thru the body lift threads, cool no problem. But then I seen a thread about 1.5" torsion bar lift. By simply increasing the torsion, is this correct? If so how do you raise the back?

Would the torsion bar increase and the 2" body lift get me a total of 3.5" of lift or?

Yeahhhhh buddy! 1.5" from PML, 2" from body lift...3.5" total lift.

Add on 33" tires instead of your 31s, and now you have 4.5" of total lift!

I've been reading your PML thread Rob, Nice:groggy: I just got new rubber, Generals, grabber AT2's, 265/65/17's So I need to run them for awhile. Winter is here and the lift stuff looks like a great spring project. I just wanted some reassurance that I was thinking and reading correctly. Sounds like the UCA are a should do when doing the PML, along with alignment and shocks. So maybe I end up with $ in the deal cool

While UCAs aren't required, they are recommended to get the most out of the front end.

It's quite a bit of money ($450) for the aftermarket/lift UCAs. Not really necessary unless you want to go 3" inches of lift in the front. I did UCAs to even out my rake somewhat...but even with UCAs and shackles, I still have a 1" rake.

In hindsight, I would have stuck with stock UCAs, shackles, and the 2" BL if I had to do it over again...but that is also partially because being married and home owner now...$450 is a lot more money to me than it used to be...ahh the life of a single man living in a college apartment. :)

The new UCA add front wheel travel, which is always nice, as well as add the ABILITY to get an alignment at ride heights over 1.5". MOST people DON'T add UCA to a PML, as that takes away the "poor" part...and, as a PML is a 1.5" SL, the alignment adjustments is still in range.

The one's who DO add the UCA to a PML are the one's who's PML was stretched to a 1.5" height, and, they needed the UCA to get an alignment.

fair enough, 1.5" PML w/o the UCA I may even do this yet this winter. It seems pretty straight forward. Thanks for the replys to a question I'm sure has been asked many times. I'll let you know. I'm planning on being around this forum for awhile
