No one from the bengals ever puts up solid numbers
unless its for bail money
WHAAAT? Carson Palmer before that nasty elbow injury was a good qb that was putting up 100.00 passer ratings..
4k yards.. And Chris Henery was going to be a great WR if he could have settled down and not have some crazy chick kill him.
Even Chad Johnson was doing well.. on 2005 they would have been a superbowl caliber team if not for a cheap shot by a Steeler.
(Yes is was a cheap shot even though they defender wasnt trying to hurt him like that)
After that 2005 season expectations were very high.. but Cp hurt that elbo in 2007.. and was never the same after it.
The run game has been the Bengals weak point of late.. That and the old OC we had..
Im not going to say we will be a super bowl team this year.. but we should be 9-7 or 10-6..
Im looking for the Ravens to finally fall apart... Very very old Defense, and its looking like the Steelers coach is finally ruining what the CHIN had built.
That super bowl he won was a joke.. All Bill's players.. The owners would not let he change anything.
The Browns with a new owner should start to finally show signs of life.. I look for The Cheese head to be let go after this year..
I think the will clean house big time... Id say even the janitor should be scared lol..
This to me will be a strange NFL year. Im looking to team that have been on top for 5 to 8 years to finally start to drop off...
AFC East-
NE is up in the air to me... They have a very Weak WR core now and have zero D... But they do have a great QB and coach so who knows... The Jets are done.. Id start looking for a new
coach.. I think Ryans one trick pony show is over.. I think the Fins could be a team to watch.. After watching Hard knocks I really like how that coach is approaching his team. I think 8-8 or 9-7 os a true possibility. The Bills are a "who knows" team QB is strong against bad teams and has yet to show me anything else.. Not much of a run game there either.. BUT! Adding some key defenders will help them..
drb's rankings
NE 11-5
FINS - 9-7
Bills - 7-9
Jets - 4- 12
AFC North-
I really see this as the Bengals division to loose. with key pick in the past 2 drafts on both sides of the ball and young team this could be a year to advance.
The Steelers are just old.. And I hate to see them heading down.. Other than NE they have been the class of the 2ks.. But they do not seem to want to protect the QB.. They keep adding journey men to that OL and one day they are going to end Ben's playing time.. With WR issues and a very old D I do not look for them to make waves.
The Ravens are a strange team... They do not seem to know wether thet need to be a Offense or Defense based team.. Why in gobbles name they allow Ray Lewis to stay on this team ill never know.. He has the heart of a lion but the body of a old man.. Ray needs to move in to coaching now.. The Browns will show life this year.. but till the owner cleans house I do not look for then to compete
Bengals 11-5
Steelers 9-7
Browns 7-9
Ravens 7-9
AFC South
What a flip flop in two years... At one time this had to be right behind the AFC North as one of the best divisions in football. But Father time has kicked in and well.. not been so nice with this division. Last year Houston finally showed it has a good couch that could take this team to the play-offs. The QB is a area of concern. Who will start for the team and who will finish the year..
This should be the peek of their RB's time in the league. And you can not win games with little running attack. The Titans need to figure out a QB quick.. You have Lock ready to go.. but looks iffy in the pre season. Pick one or the other and plan for NE in game one. The Titans still lack a true #1 WR. The Defense is avg at best. We all know who the Colts drafted this year but will it really matter.. They are so weak in every area of D that this kid better score 30 points again in EVER game. The JAX.. A pissed off RB and no offense.. Enough said.
Texans 10-6
Titans 8-8
Colts 5-11
Jax 2-14
AFC West
Could there be a weaker division in the NFL? Yes but thats for next weeks discussion. This is one teams division to loose. The Bronco's have went after it and will pay for it in a few years. But till then Patton could take them far this year. The run game is the only area I see as a weakness. But we all seen what #18 could do in Indy with no running attack. The Raiders have a ton of issues..
Will the QB stop throwing the football to the opposing team? OAK is a pretty good looking team despite the lack of draft picks and funds in the cap. I keep reading how this is the Chargers division to loose. Really? All you have is a above avg QB and really nothing else. Look for Norv to finally get the Axe along with the GM at the years end. Why in gobbles name did KC pick Romeo as the coach that could bring them back? This guy has proven little as a HC. With no QB, No RB and little ability in WR they should loose every game by 25 this year. I expect them to compete with JAX for the #1 draft pick.
Broncos 11-5
Raiders 8-8
Chargers 7-9
KC 2-14
Thats my AFC thoughts..
