Google Chromebook

I'm looking at this being my next computer and was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with these.

My wife and I usually just use our computer for these capabilities anyways and these seem to be a good product for a great price.

Just from some things ive read lack of storage is about the biggest downfall in my book. Most of the time I only use the laptop for browsing & email but I store lots of photos, vids & music. Also being locked into google programs is a downer, I use iTunes and from what I have read it wont work on there.

That's not a really big deal to me. On the rare occasion I burn a CD I can make the 5 minute pilgrimage to my parents house and do all that crap. The $199 model I'm looking at has like 320 gig of hard drive space and two free years of google cloud drive service. I also have a 2TB external hard drive.

It's looking more like I'm going to go with the Acer C7 model. I've read good things about it. I'll do a write up after I get it.

My gf has the Samsung model and likes it. I'm planning on gettin the upgraded version of hers which is the s 550 I think? The memory isn't a big deal because I have zip drives and a portable hard drive.

That is correct. I've got an external hard drive with 2TB of space, a 100gb hard drive at my disposal, and a 320gb hard drive/external hard drive as well. The two smaller ones are hard drives from busted laptops. I've got tons of space and doubt I could fill the 320gb on the Acer. Plus it comes with 100gb of cloud storage on Google's cloud storage.

I've even read about some people hacking it and running windows. I'm definitely going to read up a little more about hacking it and making it more compatible. Maybe upgrading things that I find lacking. What I need most is a browser with an hdmi port to hook to my tv to watch Hulu with.

Yea I wasn't too worried about filling up the space. I wouldn't hack it and run windows. Google docs is supposed to be able to do powerpoint and all the other Microsoft office programs. I never even thought about hooking it up to my TV :banghead:

Oh, I don't think I will hack it to run windows. Some people were doing it but I was thinking about hacking it to upgrade hardware. I have the laptop I'm on right now for windows based crap. This laptop is just too old for hdmi and that is really what I need most.
