Wow, that as a solid bolt on mod looks amazing. Do you have a body lift on this or is that a height that people can expect if they were to directly swap over parts?

No body lift. This is how the kit turns out. It's about 5.5" of lift from the kit.

I've also relocated the washer reservoir so I don't have to worry about smashing it on rocks again.

This is a nice rig, man! Ive seen you post on a few of the FB groups. Glad to see your build up here! Those 5.13's prob spin them wheels, alright I'd assume. You could have no issues going 35's if you wanted?

The biggest issue will be the added stress that the larger wheels brings and 35s are over the recommended limit that Calmini has on their site. The kit is designed for 33s.

Maslin runs 35s on the Calmini kit and doesn't have too many problems but has broken a few things along the way.

True, I guess it all depends on how hard you are on your rig, too.

Yes, with 5.13's the wheels spin fine. I did lose a little top end but I never wanted to win the grand prix with my X.

Here is a picture of how deep the mud was... And the heavier trucks sunk deeper. I you could kind of see how deep the Full-size Bronco sunk in the background of the second picture in the post above. He was running 42's.

This was my first time driving in real mud and I let up on the gas and got stuck on my first long run of the day. I took that line twice after this picture and played in softer stuff the rest of the day.

This is still my daily driver so right now I don't want to go with bigger tires. I still wheel hard and my rig can handle various conditions. I'll probably do exhaust and a performance rebuild before I worry about being bigger.

Nice rig! I've seen some pics of your suspension while searching for Calmini SAS stuff. If I didn't already have the coin in my rear ARB, I'd seriously consider doing the Rodeo D44.

Doing the D44 Rodeo swap with disc brakes and the Detroit Locker was cheaper than putting in an ARB and I have more aftermarket options.

It was tough getting rid of the h233b. It's a great axle. I just wanted more options than an air locker. I didn't want to worry about rodents chewing hoses or air compressors failing. The Detroit is simple, reliable, and strong as hell. The rear disc brakes are really nice on rocks or when I'm towing my boat.

I completely agree. And I got a KILLER deal on my ARB. Which is the only reason I have it. I am insanely jealous of the disc brakes though. Seeing as I have so much money into my axle, I'm contemplating doing the Pathy disc brake swap.

As a DD, have you gotten used to the auto locker in the rear? I'm going air or electronic (if I stay on 33s I might swap to a yota rear with elocker)

Just wanted your opinion on the auto with the sas

I live in the Mountains in southern California and have to drive in snow and ice. To tell you the truth, the auto locker doesn't behave all that much different from the stock limited slip. I've always had to lay off the gas on turns and be easy on the gas on ice. I've felt the back end try to come around when I was stock. Just lay off the gas and it rights itself.

I could chirp the tires in dry conditions if I punch it but the X was never a racer. I love the auto lockets and I even have a Trac lock in the front. This SAS with the Fox coil overs rides just as smooth on the highway as the IFS, maybe even smoother.

Looks good, man! What are the future plans for the rig?

It's tough to see in the mud pictures but we just built some .250 square sliders. We're adding some round tube for a step within the next week or two. Then exhaust and eventually I'll do a performance rebuild. We need to fab a rear bumper also.

Here is some video from Azusa Canyon, showing the big Broncos what an X can do.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the compliments.

I'm into this build about 6.5 grand. That included
Calmini SAS
sway bar system
Junkyard waggy D44
Fox coilovers
Trac lock
JE Reel driveshafts
5:13 gears
Junkyard Rodeo D44 w/ disc brakes
Detroit locker
Rebuilt stock leaf springs SOA
Fox shocks
Front bumper and Tires

I'm running the Calmini kit straight with not other mods. I know they have revamped a few things over time. All the guys that helped me with the build are Bronco guys and they were really impressed with the Calmini kit. I can't tell you guys how much this has increased my rig's capabilities and I have yet to do any mods for HP. I get compliments from Bronco guys, Toyota guys, and Jeep guys.

If you're on the fence about doing an SAS... DO IT!!!

I ran stock for 9 years until this mod. I broke a control arm last year and the other side was cracked. I bit the bullet, with this build, I wanted to do it right the first time and I'm happy that I did.

Rig looks great! I may need to pick your brain in a bit for the washer fluid reservoir here in not too long. I am guessing you picked one up from a Pathy? I just got one not too long ago in order to do this. Is it pretty much a plug and play? You just stick the new reservoir on top of the driver's side fender well and shorten up the lines and wire it up?

I actually got one out of a Mazda. It's smaller and I added a hole for the rear pump but it fits in the little void under the hood in the top driver's side corner.

I actually think you're going a better direction for yours. This is just what worked the day that I had time to do it.
