How to wire my 2002 X for trailer lights/towing?

Did a search and did not find an answer - so - My 2002 X (bought used) came with a Nissan hitch but I cannot find any trailer plug in. Someone said the plug is located under vehicle on passenger side. Looked and found a "box" with 3 plug-in's mounted to the frame. I guess I need a step by step "how-to" wire the X for towing my 15.5 Basstracker alumin. boat, including anything I need to buy. Seems like removing the spare would give a person some extra room to work!

It's a small plug on the passenger side as you mentioned. There is a cap on it to keep dirt and water out when theres not a harness plugged in.

I did notice searching that not all are for the factory plug. I believe that little plug is referred to as the "towing package" the hitch doesn't count, do you remember if your stick mentioned it?

OK....did find what "I think" you are talking about. It is on passenger side and what appears to be the "cover" is BLUE in color and I can see 4 holes in the cover. I have not tried to remove what you call the cap but will try tom. and post my results. Think I am on the right track tnx to your help. More later.

The video confirmed that what I found is the right thing....just remove the dust cover, plug in the Tow Ready harness and BINGO, let's go fishing....tnx a bunch. Dennis in Texas

Got my wire harness today, got the cap off and plugged in the wires...perfect. Done deal. Gone fishing!

Do '01s have this? My uncle just have me a bully step that has red LEDs in it and I have the tow hitch but don't know where to plug it in.

Yeah might be a different cable from the dealer not sure. But, my 01 had a plug along the same lines. Pop the light green/blue cap out plug it in the pigtail wire with the typical 4 wire trailer plug on the other end.

The cord is like a foot long because ford has their plugs right next to the hitch, would I have to find an extender if that make them?
