What was the name of your bot rokdaddy? (I'm a big battlebots fan myself)
You should think about starting a new tread on it. I'm sure there are a few guys on here that would love to know more.
I've built a few myself, but never got the chance to compete with the big boys, lol.
I never competed with the big boys either... most of my time in the combat robot community was spent helping other teams. I would share parts and contribute time and money when I could but I didn't have a lot of cash to work with back then.
The only bot that I could call my own (and was ready for competition) I named Shuriken - Shuri for short. It was a lightweight (<60 lbs.) shell spinner. My friends joked that I should have named it "Bad Timing" because I finished it shortly after Battlebot's final event, in a time when a few new events were struggling to create the next greatest venue. With multiple events spread around the country instead of a single comp that everyone attended once a year, the events seemed increasingly less appealing each year. When plans fell through for a local club out here, I gave up and put Shuri up for sale to help fund other robotics projects.
I didn't have a camera back then so I had to depend on others for photos. I think I still have some from the pits at Treasure Island and the ones that I took when I sold Shuri. I'll see if I can dig those up...
Which weight classes did you build for? Rock, paper or scissors?
