Is there any trick to getting the full 1.5" lift in the front while keeping the .5" bump stop gap?

I'd say I got about 1"-1.25" with .5" bump stop gap.

Any ideas?

Note I do have the stock brush guard in the front could it be the extra weight is what's not letting me get the full 1.5" of lift?

Extra weight on the front is only going to mean you have to crank the bars a little more to get the desired lift.

One thing I've noticed is that every truck is a little different in this regard. If you want more lift, crank the bars a tiny bit more and drive it. You always want to drive it around before measuring. If you find that you're on the bump stops too much then back it off a hair. Don't be obsessed with numbers and measurements. Tweak it until it drives correctly.

Extra weight on the front end flexes the suspension more, which widens the bump stop gap.

Every Xterra is a little different. You can go with a slightly smaller gap if you want, just make sure you can still get an alignment

Thanks guys! Do you know how much I need to worry about driving on it before I get an alignment? I might not be able to get to the shop for 2-3 days, I don't want to trash my tires...

Depends how much you drive :)

I drove on my PML for....3-4 months before I got an alignment...it usually isnt too bad off just from cranking torsion bars....but my tires at the time were already bad, which is why I didn't care if they got worse...but I did not notice any unusual wear
